Championship Lead Up For Grabs as Skuse Will be a Non Starter
This Sunday August 21st the Phoenix Tools Premier motocross Championship moves up to the popular Cusses Gorse in Wiltshire for round 8 in the 10 round series which will include the penultimate round of the Evo/Super Evo Championship.

In the Gabriel Insulations Expert Championship the Championship lead could be about to change due to the unfortunate Jamie Skuse who had been poorly and eventually had to have his appendix removed and sadly for Jamie who is Gutted will miss round 8. Nearest to Jamie is Jordan Carter on the MotoXtreme/Stone Supplies Kawasaki who is 89 points adrift, but with 150 points on offer things may change. Currently 3rd in the standings is the Tony Maunders Racing Yamaha of Kelvin Townsend who is 39 points behind Carter, so he also will be looking to do well as will be the likes of Tommy Alba on the D S C Cornwall Kawasaki who is in top form at the moment, James Kensington, Ben Butler, Luke Craig, Loukas Maggio, Josh Taylor, Lewis Barfoot, Ben Hunt and Jason Brooke plus many more.

In the M D Racing Over Age Championships its Wayne Shimell on the TyreMarks Husqvarna who still heads the Over 35 Championship, but things are tight behind him as Jonathan Morrissey sits there in 2nd just one point ahead of James Price on the Ace Comfort Cooling Kawasaki who for sure will be looking to move up. The Over 40’s has Stuart Rawlings leading the standings with a comfortable margin, but as with the Over 35’s the battle behind him is tight as Rob Lewis is in 2nd just 27 points ahead of Richard Tapscott with Tapscott only 3 points in front of James Knatchbull so the battle will be on. The Over 50’s has David Ford on the Projuice KTM topping the standings ahead of Alan Packer who as with the last round will have to be at his best as sitting there in 3rd just 23 points behind Packer is Adrian Toy.

In the Tony Maunders Junior Championship it’s the Bridgestone KTM of Harry Linton with a comfortable Championship lead from Dave Anthony with Jay Lewis in 3rd trailing Anthony by just 30 points, but it wont be plain sailing as hoping also to do well will be the likes of Ross Churchill, Jamie Buckingham, Harry Mitchell, Tyron Cleaver, Ross Kersey, Jamie Dixon and James Bailey to name a few.

In the Evo/Super Evo Championship it’s still Adam Plant who heads the proceedings from Ricky Brown who trails by 36 points. Brown took a hat trick of wins at the last round and will be looking to do as well at Cusses to claw a few more back.

Cusses Gorse has easy access with excellent viewing and will be Signposted off the A303 at Amesbury (Postcode SP4 6JW) with the first race at 10-30am. (There are still places available in all classes, for more info contact Greta on 01884 840078)
