This weekend saw the sixth round of the 2011 SPEA FIM Trials World Championships take place at the spectacular Fort William venue in Scotland. Rain in the lead up to the event made the course very technical and added to the excitement which produced some nail biting finishes. It was a determined Adam Raga on the Gas Gas who outclassed reigning World Champion Toni Bou to win by a single mark.
Out of the four British Riders competing in World Championship class it was current British Champion James Dabill on his Beta that produced the best result with fifth place just ahead of Michael Brown in sixth place. Brown on the JST Gas Gas UK machine had to work hard on the second lap not to concede sixth place to Jeroni Fajardo.
British favourite Dougie Lampkin, twelve times FIM Trial World Champion Dougie Lampkin failed to reach his ultimate career goal of one hundred GP wins as he finished in a disappointing eighth place. Lampkin's suffered unfortunate luck when he developed grueling cramp in his right leg as he tried to compensate for his injured ankle, causing him to drop valuable marks.
Ninth place at the event went to youngster Jack Challoner on his Beta Machine. The Top Trial team rider was hoping to fight for a top 5 finish in the event but rider errors on the opening lap left him with work to do.
In the Youth class Jack Sheppard on the Beta, produced a clear seven-mark victory ahead of runner-up Steven Coquelin. The British GP marked Sheppard's fourth win of the season and sees him extend his lead over his nearest rival to nine points.
