This weeks ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. Here is a selection of just a few events taking place.
Motocross
This Sunday the Phoenix Tools South West Premier Motocross Championships makes its way to Little Silver Moto Park, Exeter for round 4 in the series. The venue played host to the opening round of the 2011 Maxxis British Motocross Championship back in March and with the same track being used this weekend it has attracted many riders back including Stephen Sword on the Buildbase CCM and local rider Alex Snow on the Lanes Kawasaki who are entered to ride as wildcards with many others expected to follow suit. There is plenty of other talent on hand including defending Champion John May who currently leads the MX1 standings by 14 points from 2008 Champion Andrew Gillett who will be having his first ride on board a Maunders Racing Honda with Darren Shears there just 10 points adrift in 3rd. In the MX2 class, Jamie Skuse leads the proceedings by just 5 points from Will Worden with Defending Champion Luke Mellows lying in 3rd and they will be joined by the likes of Jordan Rose, Nick Wadge and Harry Snow who are back from injury, Wayne Shimell, Lee Skinner and Luke Norris plus many others. Little Silver is an excellent viewing track with easy parking and will be signposted off the end of the M5 Motorway at Kennford with the first race at 10am.
On Bank Holiday Monday the Sidcup & District MCC will be hosting round 3 of the South Eastern Motocross Championship. Round 3 of the championship will see the return to the Canada Heights Circuit with the Expert Championship currently being led by David Williams. Second place in the championship is currently being held by Dan Arnold with Stuart Morrison in third. In the Junior championship it is Lee Powell that leads the way over Joseph Sasse and Glenn Smith. Practice will start at 9:00am with racing starting at approximately 11:00am, Spectators admission fee are set at £7 for adults with free parking and programme.
After a break of seven weeks the top British Sidecar teams will be in action for Round 2 of the ACU British Sidecar Championship. All the excitement takes place on Bank Holiday Monday 30th May at Asham Woods near Frome and is hosted by the Frome Motorcycle Club. Stuart Brown and Josh Chamberlain will be hoping to extend their slender 5 points lead by the end of the days racing. Daniel and Joe Millard, who are currently lying in second, should have the home advantage as Frome is their hometown and always have a partisan crowd at Asham Woods! Stuart and Josh, however, also have their own large contingent of followers to help cheer them on. Since the last round both teams have been competing in the World Championship and they have had their equal share of success and disappointment. Stuart and Josh are presently 9th in the world and Team Millard 16th. In third and only 7 points behind the Millards are Jack Etheridge and Ryan Humphrey in this their first full season in the British Championship.
For an action packed day then Asham Woods is the place to be to watch the best sidecar teams in the country battling it out and with only 27 points separating the top 6 the crowd shouldn’t be short of excitement! The track can be found signposted off the A361 Frome to Shepton Mallet with the nearest postcode BA11 4PN. Practice is at 09.00 and the first race 10.45. Spectators £10, £5 OAP’s and under 16’s free.
On Bank Holiday Monday the Milton Moto Club will be running a practice day event at the Milton MX Park. Due to the overwhelming requests to run practice events the club has decided to run an open practice day for both Schoolboys and Adults. The riders will be split into groups depending on the number of riders on the day. The price for the day is £25 for an Adult and £20 for an Under 16 and this includes First Aid Cover, Marshalls along with Trade Stands and a Catering Van. Berkhamsted MCC are running a Charity Trial this Saturday with a difference at their permanent Nash Mills training ground. The club has joined forces with Bucks New University students to help organise the day. The chosen charity is Riders for Health who will be bringing down an exhibition truck for the day. The students have got additional sponsorship and there will be plenty of raffle prizes up for grabs. The sections open from 10:30 am and they will not be closing until 17:00 so do worry about the start time, turn up any time and ride. Fancy dress is in order so make an effort. There will also be a BBQ at lunchtime so bring the family and have a day’s fun. Berkhamsted MCC aim to encourage new blood into the sport so we want to make it a family day with people seeing that trials is something that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Enduro
This weekend sees the UK’s top Enduro riders compete in the penultimate event of the Husqvarna ACU British Sprint Championship as the series organisers GMC Events moves to the Enduroland venue for an exciting meeting at Manor Farm, near Towcester in Northants. As the series moved past the halfway point it looked set that David Knight was likely to take the title, until he was force to have an operation on his injured hip. Current second place rider Tom Sagar now finds himself with the one hand on the 2011 title, but with the likes of Darryl Bolter and Si Wakely will still be looking for glory.
Manor Farm could also see the first 2011 champion crowned in the shape of Danny McCanney who has been untouchable in the Under 23 championship.
