This weeks ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. Here is a selection of just a few events taking place.
Motocross
On Saturday and Sunday the Cambridge Junior Schoolboy Club will be hosting Rounds 4 and 5 of the CJSC Summer Motocross Series at the Fat Cats venue at Armthorpe. The Fat Cats venue has been extensively redesigned over the winter and features a superb technical sandy circuit, which will produce a tough challenge for all riders. With seven different groups of racing taking part over the weekend there is sure to be plenty of close racing in all classes. Action begins at 9am on the Saturday and continues on Sunday.
Also on Sunday the Diss Motorcycle club will be holding a motocross meeting at their Wattisfield Hall circuit. The meeting features a round of the NGR championship, along with the opening round of the Eastern Centre Quad Championship. Also featured in the line-up will be Junior and Expert solo riders. Practice starts at 10:30 followed by the opening race of the day at 12 noon.
Enduro
After a long absence, the ACU Metzeler British Enduro Championship returns to the North of England, for two days of actions in Harwood Forest near Rothbury in Northumberland. The event also forms part of the North of England Enduro Championship. Following a two month break since the opening round of the British Championship, current series leader David Knight will be missing from the action due to a hip injury allowing the likes of Alex Rockwell, Tom Sagar and Greg Evans to gain an advantage in the championship. Round two of the ACU Metzeler British Enduro Championship will take place over a 34 mile course and will see riders starting at 10am on the Saturday and 9am on the Sunday morning.
The fourth round of the ACU British Twin Shock Championship will be taking place at Shillingstone Forest on Sunday 22nd May. Shillingstone Forest is approximately 3 miles Northwest of Blandford and the course will be spread across 8 miles consisting of woodland trails. The event on Sunday will start at 10:30 with groups of riders setting off at set times, where Jason Fraser will be looking to continue his winning ways over David Brick and Andy Elliott.
Trials
The fifth round of the 2011 ACU Normandale Traditional Trials Championship will be taking place on Sunday at the Derbyshire Dales Trial hosted by the Mansfield Maun MCC. The event will be starting at the Miners Standard in Winster near Matlock, Derbyshire. The start time for the event will be at 10:00 when the riders set off on the 23 mile route.
Also this weekend Britain’s top Trials riders will be taking on Rounds 2 and 3 of the FIM World Trials Championship in France. James Dabill will be looking to improve on his sixth place finish at the opening round last weekend, while Dougie Lampkin will be hoping to have recovered from his ankle injury to improve on his ninth position. In the World Youth Championship Young Jack Sheppard will be looking to continue his winning ways following on from Round one in Germany.
Grass Track
The Frittenden and District Motorcycle Club are hosting the Battle of Britain Grass Track meeting this weekend at Sandhurst Bridge Farm at Frittenden on Sunday. The event starts at 1pm with six different classes competing during course of the event, with classes including 250cc Solo, 350cc Solo, 500cc Solo and Upright Solos along with Left Hand Sidecars and 1000cc Right Hand Sidecars. Road Race
This Sunday, 22nd May, will see Round 3 of Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Race Club’s Championship get underway and in addition to the regular classes of solo motorcycles, sidecars and karts there will be an extra class for the East Midland Racing Association’s Earlystock machines.
Once more you can certainly guarantee some exciting racing and in addition to the local riders who are regularly at the front there are many who are intent on breaking into this group of quick racers. As always Practice begins at 10.00am with the first race expected at 11.30am. Entrance admission Adults £11.00, Senior Citizens £6.00, kids under 16 free, parking & paddock transfer free, with Programmes £3.00. Also this weekend the British Motorcycle Racing Club will be hosting the Gordon Cobbold GP Meeting at Brands Hatch. The meeting is Round 5 of the BMCRC championship and will feature 11 different classes competing for championship glory during the two days there is sure to be some action when races starts on Saturday.
