What's On! Weekend of 14th and 15th May
This weeks ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. Here is a selection of just a few events taking place.

Motocross

Following a five week break the BYMX Championship hits Round Three at Duns on the Scottish borders and the quest to find the Nation’s Premier Youth riders continues. The previous two rounds have seen the very best and the very worst that the British weather has to offer, but the racing has been red hot none the less. Everyone is keeping their fingers crossed for fine conditions when racing starts on Saturday 14th. For more information please visit www.bymx.org.

While on the Welsh Borders the Kensworth Schoolboy Motocross Club will be running a two day event at Pontrilas. The club has arranged to have a practice day on the Saturday followed by a Race Meeting on the Sunday. Saturday’s Practice event will see the practice sessions split into four groups between 10am and 4pm, before seven classes of racing take to the track on Sunday. Nora MX is holding Round 5 of their Club Quad Racing Championship at the Milton Park circuit situated next to the M1 at Junction 15A. The Milton Park circuit is fresh from staging the fourth round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship just two weeks ago. Sunday’s meeting gives some riders the chance to learn the track before the British Championship round at the end of the season. Entrance to the venue is £5 for Adults and £2 for Children with Camping on the Saturday evening is £10 per vehicle.

Enduro

This weekend the Croydon Motor Cycle Club will be hosting the 2011 Ray Kennard Memorial Enduro, which is also a round of the South Eastern Centre Championship. The event is taking place at West Harting Down, near Uppart on the B2146 in West Sussex, with a 10 mile long Woodland Course which will see the following classes competing including Championship/ Expert, Veteran A and B (Over 40), Clubman A and B, Sportsman when the event starts at 10:30.

Trials

The opening round of the 2011 Sammy Miller Products Trials Championship starts this weekend on Sunday 15th May. The opening round of the eight Championship events will be taking place at Downs Farm in Blockey, Nr Bourton on the Hill. For 2011 the Championship is starting slightly later than usual and the season will begin with the Sam Cooper Union Jack Trial hosted by the Stratford on Avon Motorcycle Club. Sunday’s event will feature a course of 30 different sections and will be covering approximately 25 miles in distance including sections of public roads along the way. With over 120 entries for the opening round all are looking for a good start to the season when the event begins at 9:30, before the Championship moves to the Crabtree Cup Trials on July 3rd for the second round.

Womens and Girls Championship features a double header this weekend with the Scarborough & District Motor Club and Lincoln MC & CC both holding rounds of the championship. On the Saturday the Scarborough & District Club will be hosting Round 2 of the 2011 Championship at Low North Park, Harwood Dale in Scarborough. The event will be starting at 10am and features three laps of twelve sections. Then on the Sunday it is the turn of the Lincoln MC & CC to host Round 3 at the private venue of Manton Quarry near Kirton in Lindsey in Lincolnshire. The event starts at 11am and will consist of three laps of twelve sections.

Road Racing

Round 5 and 6 of the NG Road Racing Championship will be taking place this weekend at the tight and twisty Pembrey Circuit. Phil Bevan will as always be one to beat on the Superbikes on his 1000 R1 Yamaha, whilst Daniel Jackson in taking the year by storm on his TZ250 in the 450 class. Others on good form are Matthew Billington (Streetstocks) Shannon Hale (F400) and Ben Mardsen (Mini Twins). Watch out too for Miles Bennett/Kevin Perry and Phil Larder/Ken Edwards in the two sidecar classes. NG Road Racing are once more hosting the prestigious 250GP ACU National Championship, along with the series sponsors, Dunlop, The ACU and Willis Developments are providing an outlet for these pure-bred real racing machines. This is the only place that you will see these Grand Prix derived machines competing in a full National championship anywhere in the UK, so strong grids of fast riders are guaranteed. This 1.456 mile Pembrey circuit throws up a series of demanding challenges for the riders. Despite the hairpin sections lap speeds in excess of 90mph are needed for glory. Pembrey (sat nav: SA16 0HZ) is situated in Carmarthenshire, South Wales, just off the A284 Llanelli to Carmarthen Road, about 13 miles from J48 of the M4. There are ample road signs as you approach the circuit. Practice and qualifying takes place from 9am with the first race proper starting at 11:00am on Saturday and about 10:00am on Sunday. Torbay Motor Club will once again host riders of the National Hill Climb Association at three of their five hill climb events in 2011, the first at Wiscombe Park, near Sidmouth, East Devon, in. Competitive motorcycle hill climbing has been a feature of Torbay Motor Club’s events since 2006 at Wiscombe; the variety and enjoyment they bring is consistently mentioned by spectators, marshals alike as being a key part of the unique feel of the events. Track Racing

The opening round of the 2011 Track Racing Sidecar Championship will take place at the East of England Showground in Peterborough on Saturday 14th May. For 2011 the event will be run alongside the BMF May show, this is the first time that the ACU 1000cc Sidecar championship has been run alongside the BMF in the last 10 years. With the BMF show drawing in over 50,000 visitors it is the largest outdoor bike show held in Europe and a great platform to help promote the sport of Track Racing. The opening round of the 2011 Track Racing Sidecar Championship features a bumper line up of Sidecar teams like the reigning British Track Racing Champions Matt Tyrrell and Mark Courtney as well as last year’s British Masters Champion and British Sideway Speedway Champions Mark Cossar and Carl Blyth. Other entries include past Masters Champions Paul Whitelam and Alan Elliott, Rob Wilson and Terry Saunters and also Gary Jackson and Henry Rodgers. Racing starts at 11:45 and will be running until 1:45 in the afternoon. With 1000cc Sidecar meeting forming part of the main entertainment in the main ring, entrance to the racing is included in the gate price for the BMF Show.

The 500cc Sidecar Association will be hosting the Roy Bell Club Meeting on Sunday May 15th at Lower House Farm, High Easter in Essex. With six adult classes taking place during the event along with a number of youth group, it is saw to be a good day’s racing. The entrance prices are £10 for Adults and Concessions are £6 with Under 14’s free. Camping is available from the Saturday at £2 and an evening Bar on the Saturday.
