Strong Start to SPEA FIM Trials Championship

This past weekend saw the opening rounds of the FIM SPEA Trial Championship take place at Gefrees in Germany, along with the second round of the UEM European Trials Championship.

Saturday saw the second round of the UEM European Championship take place with both Jack Challoner and Jack Sheppard competing in the event. For Challoner it was to be his second victory in as many starts in the 2011 UEM European Championship class, while Jack Sheppard suffered bad luck and was unfortunate to finish in fourth place and just off the podium in the Junior Class.

Sunday Morning would see the turn of the SPEA FIM Trials Championship to host the opening round of the 2011 season. The event was won by Spain’s Toni Bou. Top British honours in the Championship class were to go to James Dabill in sixth place ahead of Michael Brown in eight place. Dougie Lampkin contested the event while still suffering from a large amount of pain in his ankle following a serious injury at the Scottish Six Day Trial, Lampkin battled the pain and was able to come away with ninth place. Jack Challoner competed his first event in the Championship class and narrowly missed out on the top 10 with an eleventh place ahead of Alexz Wigg in thirteenth place.

Following the disappointment of finishing in fourth place in the UEM European Junior Championship, Jack Sheppard produced a superb result to take the victory in the Youth class and now leads the championship going into round two.
