Round two of the 2011 Metzeler ACU British Enduro Championship took place this weekend near Morpeth in Northumberland. John Kerwin and the Dirtbike-Action team produced a 34 mile long lap that would challenge many riders during the course of the two days.
With the event being the first British Enduro Championship round in the North for some time the Dirtbike-Action team had been working hard to ensure the event was a success. The weather over the weekend started out dry, but the wet ground was to make the event a tough one also with the loss of David Knight from the event due to a hip injury the Championship is now wide open.
The event consisted of three long hard laps of tight woodland sections and deep bogging crossing making the event better suited to the Trials specialists likes of Tom Sagar who took the win on the opening day ahead of Greg Evans and Jonny Walker in third place. It was to be Joe Deakins that took the win in the Expert Class and Rob Johnson in the Clubman class.
Heavy overnight rain created more issues for the riders on day two, but Tom Sagar again pulled off another stunning ride to take the win ahead of Greg Evans and Jonny Walker in third place. Following the end of day two Tom Sagar now takes control of the championship with 50 points ahead of Greg Evans in second place on 47 points. Third place in the championship is currently held by Paul Edmondson on 36 points.
The second days event would again see the Expert class win go to Joe Deakin over Lewis Belfield and Oliver Hart. Fraser Flockhart took the honours in the Clubman class along with Wyn Hughes claiming the Over 40’s win on both days of the event.
The next round of the Metzeler ACU British Enduro Championship will take place on the 9th and 10th July at the Knighton Enduro.
