THE ACU saw its name flashed in bright lights around the magnificent 02 Arena in London on S
aturday night to a crowd of 4500 fans at the 2010 Future West ACU British Supercross Championship finale - as a celebration of the excellent working relationship developed with the organiser Future West Promotions.
Britain’s AMA Supercross export Steven Clarke won the overall on the night against an international field, with Ulsterman Gordon Crockard taking the British Open title – but from the ACU’s perspective it was seeing its name in the bright lights around the arena that signals a new era for the sport.
ACU Motocross Chairman Brian Higgins said: “It was a fantastic event at the 02 Arena and a fitting end to the Supercross season. Congratulations to Future West on such a successful race meeting; the ACU is proud to be part of such a high profile event and the positive working relationship developed with Future West is a model for the future.
“Thank you to Future West for putting the ACU logo on the electric screens around the Arena every six minutes or so, it was a great advert for the organisation and shows what working together can achieve. It is the ACU’s aim to foster this kind of positive relationships with all its Promoters and clubs and this is a great start to 2010 for motorcycle sport in general.”
Future West Promotions’ Tony Cording said: “With the Future West Promotions events now concluded with the final round of the British Supercross Championships held at the 02 in London, it is timely to thank the ACU for their participation in our 2009/2010 racing season.
“We would in particular like to thank the tireless staff of the ACU who have attended all rounds of the British Supercross Championships and the first ever British round of the World Indoor Enduro Championships. As you will appreciate there are many divergent tasks, functions and situations that arise at racing events and all were handled with good cheer, willing support and the highest standards of communication and co-operation.
“Especially we would like to thank Brian Higgins, Dave Williams, Chris Reeves, and the persons I personally worked with each week-end, Di Thompson, Nadine and Kathy. A great group of people.
“Plans are already being made for the next season in which we look forward to again working with the ACU. Many thanks.”
