The ACU Road Race Committee announces an exciting new competition in motorcycle road racing for 2009.
‘MotoSix, The 6 Nations’, is a new team road race event that will feature teams from the four ‘Home Nations’ of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, along with teams from the Isle of Man and the Irish Republic, racing against one another in a titanic battle for the title, ‘MotoSix Nations Champions’.
This unique event will be held on the full GP circuit at Donington Park over the weekend of 28th and 29th March 2009 and will have classes for solo motorcycles and sidecars. Completing the weekends racing programme will be a round of the 2009 ACU Suzuki GSX-R Trophy and, the new for 2009 ACU Ladies Road Race Championship, details of which will be published shortly.
ACU Road Race Committee Chairman Jim Parker is delighted to be able to give the event full ACU backing,
“This type of innovative event is just what road racing needs. We can all remember the interest that the iconic Transatlantic Trophy races generated amongst spectators. I think that MotoSix is capable of energising that sort of interest again and will be very popular amongst riders from around the UK,” explained Parker.
Robert Fearnall Operations Director at Donington Park is pleased to see the event take place at the ‘Home of British Motorsport’, Donington Park.
“The full Grand Prix Circuit at Donington Park, in the middle of the UK, is the perfect venue for this new and exciting challenge in motorcycle road racing. I am sure that the combination of this venue and the added competitiveness driven through national pride will ensure that this event is un-missable!” Fearnall said.
Full details of the event will be published over coming weeks and posted on the ACU web site (www.acu.org.uk) as well as in all good motorcycle press.
