John Collins, Manager of the Team GB/ACU Trials des Nations squad and Trials & Enduro Committee Chairman looks forward to this years ‘des Nations event which takes place at La Rabassa, Andorra on 27th/28th September 2008.
The Ladies Team of Becky Cook, Maria Conway and Donna Fox face a tough few days leading into the competition, with a World Championship Round at Castelloli, Spain this weekend and the final Round on Friday 26th September 2008 at La Rabassa. All three will of course be hoping to maintain their superb top 5 positions in the Championship standings, but importantly remain free from injury and go into the Trials des Nations as firm favourites, once again.
The Men’s Team has three riders in the top 10 of the FIM World Championship, Dougie Lampkin, James Dabill, and Michael Brown, who have a slightly easier time going into the event, only having their final World Championship round at Castelloli this weekend, before the TdN begins. With Graham Jarvis being the fourth rider and challenging European Champion, Brown for the Colin Appleyard British Championship, this is once again a very strong Team.
John Collins said, “Everybody is fired up for this year’s competition, the Ladies proved they can handle the pressure of being favourites last year, when they became the first Ladies Team to successfully defend the Trophy, but they have got a very tough week ahead of them. The Men are determined to put last year’s the bitter disappointment behind them, when they where just beaten to the second step of the podium by Japan. It will be an incredible achievement to challenge Spain for the victory, but they are definitely aiming high and further success by the Ladies may provide that extra incentive.”
