Scotbeen Racing (Jim Laing/Kenny Paterson) made a
sensational Endurance debut by winning the seventh round of the ACU
sorrymate.com National Endurance Championship at Knockhill.
The Scottish pair qualified on pole position and led the
3-hour race from lap nine, crossing the line just over 40 seconds clear of
their closest rivals, Team Sorrymate.com (Colin Norris/Warren Verweh), after
189 laps of racing.
Scotbeen Racing’s victory had no effect on the National 1000
championship positions.
Despite Team Sorrymate, com’s fine ride, they stay second in
the National 600 series, 11 points behind the absent Team Edge.
There was no time for Team Sorrymate.com to celebrate their
good ride, because Verwey had to leave quickly to travel to the Isle of Man
where he is competing in the Manx GP.
Tech Group Racing (Nick Ford/MattStevens) were third over
the line, the Clubman 1000 team completing 185 laps.
That result hoisted them to joint fourth in their class and
consolidated their lead in the Sorrymate 1000 Rookie championship.
Initiatec Racing (Harte/Roxborough) were fourth finishers,
on 184 laps, second National 600 team home.
Team Big Lads (Bob Barton/Joe Connolly) qualified sixth
fastest, but though they were sixth after the first half hour they gradually
slipped back and finally pulled out with a loss of brakes, after completing 110
laps.
