The ACU Motocross department regrets to announce the cancellation of the second round of the Maxxis ACU British Sidecar cross scheduled to take place at Asham Woods, Leighton on 21 April 2014.
The Leighton track is located in an area of extensive quarrying and the track is stony at the best of times. To keep it in prime race able condition it needs large amounts of earth moved onto the track surface and rolled in after each meeting. Unfortunately the club have been unable to move the earth required or get the machinery onto the circuit to perform the work needed, due to the excessively wet winter that has been suffered.
For this reason the bottom of the valley is in an unfit condition to race and the Frome Club don’t believe that the condition will improve enough to produce a track that is up to the standard suitable to stage a British Championship round.
Both the Club and ACU offer its sincere apologies to competitors and spectators alike. The ACU Motocross Department have taken the decision not to reschedule this round of the Championship due to other championship calendars and the championship will be contested over the following seven rounds.
