End of an era for Frome and District Motorcycle Club

Tuesday March 18, 2014 at 2:48pm
The Frome Motorcycle Club is sad to announce the retirement of Jim Webb, the Club Secretary.  Jim suffered a stroke before Christmas 2013 which has affected his mobility and therefore his ability to play a full part in arranging meetings and preparing the track at Leighton.

The track at Asham Woods, Leighton, is internationally famous having hosted Motocross Grand Prix for both solos and sidecars and is a regular venue for British Sidecarcross Championships.  All this was achieved under Jim’s governance.

The Club is currently run by a loose collective of volunteers, all determined to ensure the survival of the club and its famous track.  It has been agreed that now Jim has retired the club will elect a committee to carry out the many and varied functions needed to run high quality meetings.  There will be a meeting on Friday 21st March at The Bell, Standerwyck, starting at 7:30 pm for all club members who wish to get involved. If you’re not a member; come and join.

Jim was always ably supported by his wife, Vera, and together they made a formidable organisation team.  It says a lot about them that the sheer volume of work they carried out in support of the club now needs to be carried out by a committee.  Don’t let them and the Club down.

Get involved.
