FIM 6DAYS® set for Wales in 2027

After a forty-four year absence, the 6DAYS® FIM Enduro of Nations will make a historic return to Wales, Great Britain, from 13 to 18 September 2027.

The 6DAYS® has been long overdue a return to British soil, making next year’s one-hundredth-and-first edition a much-anticipated event.

Wales last held the 6DAYS® in 1983 and, in 2027, the picturesque town of Builth Wells will host the event, with the well-known Royal Welsh Showground acting as race headquarters and paddock.

Riders from more than thirty countries are expected to line up in Wales, with national teams competing for the World Trophy, Junior World Trophy and Women’s World Trophy, while club riders from around the world will also have the opportunity to take part.

Over six days, riders will cover hundreds of miles of varied terrain, combining technical special tests with long-distance riding and strict time controls. They must also maintain and repair their own motorcycles within tightly controlled time limits, adding another dimension to one of the toughest challenges in motorcycle sport.

Getting to this point has taken a lot of work behind the scenes, which FIM Enduro Commission Director John Collins was proud to comment on during the event’s official countdown launch in Portugal.

“Many people, including myself, have been waiting a long time to see the 6DAYS® return to Great Britain and Wales,” said Collins. “There were times when we thought it may not be possible, but a great group of people have worked so hard to make it happen.”

“It’s great to see the Welsh Assembly Government and Sports Minister already very much involved in the event. They are taking an active role in the 6DAYS® and backing it with a lot of support. An event like this will provide a big boost for the Welsh economy.”

Known for its rural countryside, scenic mountains, changeable weather and vast enduro heritage, Wales will naturally deliver an incredible venue for 6DAYS® racing. Selecting Builth Wells as the host town was also a natural fit, as Collins explains.

“It’s important to mention that the paddock and headquarters for the 6DAYS® Wales will be in Builth Wells.

“This town is home to one of the largest agricultural shows in Europe, so the region is very much accustomed to a mass influx of people and will be more than capable of managing the volume of people that will attend the 6DAYS® in Wales.”

The event will be supported by the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU), working alongside volunteers, partners and a host of Welsh motorcycle clubs including Hafren Dirt Bike Club, Dyfed Dirt Bike Club, CWAC Knighton, Builth Wells, WTRA, Saintswell and Rhayader, who will bring decades of local knowledge and experience to the event.

While the competition will undoubtedly take centre stage, 6DAYS® Wales 2027 promises to be much more than a motorcycle race.

Steve Hall, Operations Director of 6DAYS® Wales 2027, added: “Bringing the 6DAYS® back to Great Britain is something the enduro community has wanted for a very long time. This event is part of our sport’s heritage, and to welcome the world’s best riders back to Wales for the 101st edition is incredibly special.

“Wales has everything needed to deliver an outstanding 6DAYS®, from its incredible terrain and passionate motorcycle clubs to the people and communities who make this sport what it is.

“We want 2027 to be more than just a world-class race. We want it to be a celebration of enduro, an opportunity to showcase Wales to the world and an event that inspires the next generation of riders and fans.”

Plans include a vibrant event village, opportunities for spectators to experience the racing, family-friendly activities, local food and drink, and entertainment throughout the event.

The competition will also provide an opportunity to showcase Wales to an international audience, attracting visitors from across Europe and beyond while supporting local accommodation providers, hospitality businesses and the wider tourism economy.

With the eyes of the international enduro community turning towards Wales, the 2027 edition promises to deliver an unforgettable 6DAYS® of competition, national pride and sporting history.
