Extreme Enduro confirms changes for 2027 season

Organisers of the ACU’s British Extreme Enduro Championship have confirmed a series of changes for the 2027 season, including the introduction of a new women’s class, revised class names and updates to the AM and PM race formats.

The five-round series will continue to be co-ordinated by Wayne Braybrook at RAW Enduro and will kick off on 15 November 2026. It will be known as the 2027 ACU Plews Tyres ExtremeGB Championship.

The new women’s class will feature in the AM race, giving female competitors the opportunity to compete within a format suited to their experience and ability. Female riders will have the option to compete in the PM race in their own right.

Series Manager Wayne Braybrook said: “After my first year co-ordinating the ACU British Extreme Enduro Championship, we were super happy with the foundation we established. We had great competition and fantastic support from UK riders, along with Extreme Enduro fans from across the country who came to see the cream of the UK’s talent.

“For 2027, we will retain the two-race format and we’re excited to introduce a new women’s class within the AM race. We hope this will encourage the UK’s leading female riders to come and compete in Hard Enduro events.”

The AM race will continue to provide alternative routes around the hardest sections, while shorter and more difficult lines will offer riders a risk-and-reward option. The ‘Sportsman’ category will also be renamed ‘Sports Class’ for the new season.

In the PM race, Championship and Expert riders will tackle the toughest lines, while Club and Vets 35+ competitors will have diversion routes available. The existing ‘Clubman’ category will be renamed ‘Club Class’.

Wayne added: “Our PM events will focus on the Championship and Expert classes taking on the super-tough lines, while Club and Vets 35+ will have diversion routes. This will enable the top AM Sports riders to upgrade to PM without the worry of it being too tough for them.”

All five rounds will count towards the final championship standings in 2027, with no dropped scores.

Holly Dixon (pictured), a Trials rider that successfully tried her hand in selected Enduro events this season, welcomed the addition of a new Women’s class in ExtremeGB.

She said: “This season I was having to compete in the Enduro Sportsman class which felt like a real mis-match as a female rider and was very full-on. I can definitely see why it would be intimidating for girls to enter events under that structure.

“I’m fully behind the introduction of a Women’s class. I’m hoping this is a move that will encourage so many more girls to come and compete because Enduro is a fantastic discipline and I’ve found the community to be really welcoming.”

Tristan Robinson, ACU Enduro Commission Chairman, said: “We’re delighted to see ExtremeGB return for 2027, with RAW Enduro reprising their role as overall series promoter working with dedicated organisers.

“A lot of work and planning has gone into ensuring a fantastic season takes place with a new condensed format over the winter months. We hope this will give a more traditional hard enduro feel to the series and spread the ACU Enduro Championship calendar better across the year."
