After all the hot weather a venue change took the club to yet another track for the championship - Round 8 was hosted by Wildtracks. Who got the track in great condition for the weather and with 3 blocks of racing, some watering between it was a fantastic meeting.
The Auto class was a packed line up of riders with plenty of great battles across the pack, the standout ride of the day was Louie Hutchings who had a few thrills and spills but came back fighting for positions - bagging a well fought 3rd overall. It wasn’t just the kids having a few moments, with Jack Hesse making a dive on the first jump to catch a falling rider as a pick up - almost the same spot that Harrison Hesse took a skid in Race 2 gunning for the holeshot! The top spot with 3 race wins and the Holeshot was visitor Luke Mugglestone, George Foames was chasing him down all day and despite setting the fastest lap in the first race he couldn’t quite keep there for the top spot. The 65 class started the day with some great sportsmanship with a rider stopping to help a fellow rider get going again during practice. One the racing got underway it was gloves off! Jesse Eyles made the track look effortless with a simple 3 wins, closely followed by Henry Heard securing his second spot on the podium with some faultless riding. 3rd place was being chased down by multiple riders with Arlo Reeve, Harrison Webb, Travis Hardy, Lenny Coppack and Sonny Newrick all up there! The standout ride of the day goes to Alfie Hayden who took the 3rd place podium after a 3-4-3 finishes, an excellent round for his first year riding in the 65 class.
A gate of 29 riders lined up for the 85SW class, Jimmy Ball winning Race 1 and 3 but a crash in the 2nd left too much to do to secure a podium overall. George Hutchings had a brilliantly consistent day, with excellent speed around the track just missing out on the podium with joint points with 1st place! Stanley Peay took the overall on the day after a race win and setting the fastest lap in race 2. Some great results for the club members with Archie Simpson securing a top 10 overall.
Big Wheel 85 race one saw Jack Stanford take a first lap lead before a minor mistake letting Alfie Burkhill through to take the victory, George Goodwin, Harry Hackett, CJ Rendall were stuck in an intense battle with a second covering all 3 riders at the flag. Race 2 Jack Stanford made no mistakes with a start to finish victory ahead of Alfie Burkhill, epic first race win on the 85BW. Race 3 was turned upside down with numerous of the front riders receiving penalties, handing the victory to Harry Hackett followed by George Goodwin who went onto take the overall on the day with his consistent riding.
The youth 125 class produced some close battles throughout the class, Chase Panter took all three victories but was made to work extremely hard for it in the second race by Kolbie Smith, Chase having to use all his race craft to get past on the penultimate lap. Jenson Cole and Tommie Perfect showed great speed charging through the pack together, with Jenson getting the better finish in the final race of the day. Troy McGill showing good pace early in the day resulted in a solid 4th, just ahead of Kieran Bullock for fifth overall.
In the Youth Open class Ben Arthurton was fastest out of the gate to take the first race win, Reggie Gomm made amends for a slow start to the day taking comfortable victories in the remaining two races and the overall victory on the day. Josh Wyer, Charlie Carter Wright, Oscar knights produce some great racing all day. The highlight was the final race of the day when all three were involved in a titanic battle for third spot, all three riders holding the final podium position in the race, after many bumps and overtakes Josh Wyer came out victorious for the final podium spot. These lads are having the time of their lives!
The Adult class was a complicated one for the timing team with the NGR championship in the mix! All had a great day and was brilliant to welcome the NGR riders to the meeting. The Adult overall was won by Ben Casey, closely chased down by Charlie Nudds and Chester Hyde all day. Jake Brown had a great day with 4th overall and Phil Burton getting the top spot out of the Club Vets. William King won the NGR overall ahead of Christopher Lake.
The championship is getting very close now across the classes, with podiums yet to be decided in many of the groups - it’s all to ride for in the final round of the season on Sunday 11th October at Great Hockham.
