The Scott Trial Committee is calling on riders, supporters, volunteers and members of the wider motorcycling community to help support the latest planning application for the historic Scott Trial.
As part of the event's ongoing arrangements, planning permission must be renewed approximately every five years through the relevant National Park authorities. The current application is now under consideration, and organisers have been advised that demonstrating strong public support will be an important factor in the process.
The Scott Trial has been a fixture of the Yorkshire Dales for more than 100 years and remains one of the most iconic events in British motorcycle sport. Throughout its history, the event has operated responsibly within the landscape, with organisers working closely to protect environmentally sensitive areas and minimise any impact on the countryside.
The trial delivers significant benefits to the local area, including valuable economic support for businesses, accommodation providers and local livelihoods through visitor spending. It also provides important social and health benefits by encouraging participation in motorcycle sport, promoting outdoor activity and fostering appreciation of the unique landscape in which the event takes place.
In addition, the event has a strong charitable legacy, with more than £235,000 donated to local charities during the period that the Richmond Motor Club has organised the trial.
The Committee is encouraging anyone who values the future of the Scott Trial to submit a message of support as soon as possible.
