PEACE APPLIES PRESSURE

By stopping the winning run by Toby Martyn (TRRS), Jack Peace (Sherco) put himself right back in the title race in the ACU Trial GB class with a hard-fought win in the Lake District on Sunday. In a low scoring event, Peace held onto a four-mark lead at the conclusion of the first twelve section lap, to round off the day two marks ahead of his worldwide rival Martyn, who was annoyed with his first lap performance. Current Champion, Iwan Roberts (TRRS) stood on the lower step of the podium after coming out the best on a tie break with Billy Green (Scorpa), after both riders had cleaned twenty five of the thirty-six sections. Unfortunately, Dan Peace was a nonstarter in an attempt to get rid of an injury which he has been carrying in recent weeks but hopes to be back for his home round in Scarborough.

In an event where anything more than single marks being dropped were costly, it was actually the beck followed by a double earth bank on the steep hillside of section eleven which was Martyn's main downfall where he shed six marks in total, whilst all of his rivals remained clean.

Section nine, high up on the fell was the major mark stealer from the whole entry. Slippery grass between some large Cumbrian boulders called for precision riding and it was Roberts who recorded the only clean of the day. It was this section which took Peace and Martyn's only marks on the final tour of the race and it was Martyn's single which bagged him the bonus point for the best lap of the day, which limited Peace's points advantage to two as the series heads off to Scarborough at the end of the month.
