Wirral 100: Oulton Park on Saturday 24th April is ‘Go’, Plus a Test Day the Day Before!

OULTON PARK

Yes, Wirral 100 will be back with a bang at Oulton Park – with a Test Day on Friday 23rd April, ahead of its Race Meeting on Saturday 24th April.

For motor-cycle racing, the key part of the Government’s roadmap to cautiously ease the lockdown restrictions in England is Step 2, which is currently planned for 12th April. This Step, importantly, will allow overnight camping for the paddock fraternity (but sadly no spectators) and it will of course be dependent on the continuance of good news on the Government’s data for Covid vaccinations, infections and hospitalisations.

So, following consultations with the circuit-owners MSV and a Zoom meeting with the ACU Road Race Committee and other road race clubs yesterday evening (25th February), and having regard to the ACU’s risk assessments and guidance on social-distancing, PPE, etc, it was decided to proceed with both events.

It is expected that the regulations and entry forms for both the Race meeting and the Test Day will be available on the Club’s website (www.wirral100.co.uk) on or soon after 22nd March.

All of the club’s usual Solo classes, plus the GP Originals championship contenders, together with Open Sidecars, will be catered for on both days.

ANGLESEY

The Club had a Test Day planned for Saturday 27th March at Anglesey but, as expected, this cannot now go ahead. The Welsh Government is yet to announce its lockdown-easing methods but the Club is nevertheless hoping to resume its racing activities at Anglesey on 22nd & 23rd May. More details will follow when the situation in Wales is clarified.
