Dan Chamberlain Appointed New Team GB Sidecar Cross of Nations Team Manager
With the 2019 Sidecar Cross season underway both home and aboard, the ACU Motocross Committee are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Team GB Manager for the Sidecar Cross of Nations following Martin Guilford’s decision to step down from the position.

The ACU would like to thank Martin and his partner Lucy for their hard work and professionalism over an extensive period in the role of Team Manager and for the results that both they and the team have achieved.

Moving forward and since his recent retirement from international competition as a sidecar passenger, the ACU are pleased to confirm that Dan Chamberlain will be taking over the position as Team Manager for the 2019 event and beyond.

Dan’s racing career as an international sidecar passenger has seen him compete at both World and National level, including representing Team GB at the Sidecar Cross of Nations on several occasions and claiming a silver medal at the 2015 event.  Chamberlain ended his competitive career at the end of the 2018 season by claiming the British Championship alongside Brett Wilkinson.

Speaking following his appointment Dan Chamberlain said: “I’m really thrilled to be offered the position of Sidecar Team Manager for the Des Nations. It’s a role I will fulfil to the very best of my ability, and hopefully the decision will be well received amongst the British crews and supporters.

My aim is to keep up to date with Grand Prix and British Championship rounds as closely as possible, to stay in touch with all the British crews, and supporters and would welcome any ideas and input as far as fundraising.

We have been close to a podium finish for the last two years so let’s see if we can make it happen Team GB in 2019”

ACU Motocross Chairman Steve McCauley commented “Firstly I wish to add my personal thanks to Martin Guilford for the amazing job he has done for Team GB and UK Sidecar MX. Not only has he fulfilled the role so well but he has consistently delivered year in year out and has been an absolute pleasure for myself and my predecessors to work with. We were saddened to hear that this was to be his last year in the role.

We would wish Martin and his wife who has always been an integral part of the set up every success in their future projects. I am sure our paths will cross, and we will see them both in and around the MX scene.

Having spoken to Dan on many occasions we are confident that he is the right man to fill the now vacant position. Dan has impressed us with his approach and the fresh ideas he has to possibly take Team GB up another level on the world scene. He has massive experience and has literally been there and done it all. We will give Dan every support possible in this new and challenging position.

We have some extremely good teams competing at home and abroad, and who knows with skill, commitment, good planning and tactics and maybe a little good fortune Team GB could even stand atop of the SCXDN podium against the might of the world. Personally, I can’t wait, let’s all get behind our new manager and the Team”
