Fast Lambo Hits Brit Hat-Trick
Robert Lambert admitted he was now aiming for the world after retaining his British Under-21 title. The King’s Lynn No.1 was unstoppable at Berwick’s Shielfield Park with six unbeaten races to win his third title in succession.

Remarkably he also made it 18 consecutive British Championship race wins after also taking both of last years title without losing a heat.

Lambert admitted: “It’s my last year in it so I had to finish it in style. Zach (Wajtknecht) made me work for it in the final.

“I went up wide to look for the dirt but it wasn’t there and he came under me. In the end I came past on the fourth turn.

“Obviously now I have to look ahead to the World Under-21 title. I’ve finished third twice, I can’t do that again.

“It’s a big year ahead with so much to go for with the Grand Prix qualification, Speedway of Nations and SEC.

“I’ve had a tough start to the season but I feel good now and my performances have improved after a few mechanical problems.”

Lambert never looked like getting beaten on a chilly night at Shielfield Park. He was the man of the night with another flawless display.

But the new British young guns really impressed in the Borders. Wajtknecht was consistent all night while Jack Thomas and Tom Brennan, who both also made the final, were excellent.

Sheffield’s Drew Kemp made one small mistake in the semi-final to allow Thomas through but was also impressive.

Dan Bewley, still finding his fitness after a bad leg break last August, was the other semi-finalist but missed the start.

Scorers: Robert Lambert 15, Tom Brennan 12, Jack Thomas 12, Dan Bewley 12, Zach Wajtknecht 11, Drew Kemp 11, Nathan Greaves 10, Kyle Bickley 8, Jack Smith 7, Leon Flint 7, Ryan Kinsley 5, Jordan Palin 3, Anders Rowe 3, Jason Edwards 2, Harry McGurk 1, Luke Harris 1.
