South West Masters Motocross Returns
This Sunday the resurrected South West Masters Motocross Championships returns with the opening round of the 5 round series taking place at the re-vamped Whiteway Barton, Nr Kingsteignton in Devon.

The revived series has been kindly sponsored by National Tyre and Automotive distributors Point-S with classes for Experts, Juniors, Over 35 and Over 45’s.

The area has been very dry in recent weeks, so the organisers have left the ground in it’s Winter condition and will rip and harrow it on Friday evening ahead of early watering sessions to get moisture into the ground. Circuit supremo, Tristan Rowe, has opened up more overtaking places and the big uphill in front of the spectators is back in, before the plunge down Deer Park Hill.

There has been great interest through the winter months with many riders registering for the whole series and there is a good line up for the opening round which includes in the Experts the likes of Todd Kellett who took 4th in last weekend’s EMX2T Championship at the British Grand Prix, but at Whiteway he will be on a 450f and will be up against the likes of Jamie Skuse, Dan Thornhill, Jake Shipton, Joe Clayton, Kelvin Townsend, Luke Sturgeon, Ben Butler, and Luke Hawkins who returns to top flight action after a bad hand injury three years ago plus many more.

In the Juniors there is a huge entry and qualification for the main group will be tuff as lining up will be the likes of Michael Green, Ben Gibbons, Jamie Knight, Colby Walker, Daniel Wade and young 16-year-old Jason Down who will be having his first ride in the adults plus many others.

The Over 35 and 45 class is also stacked with plenty of talent including hot favourite in the Over 35’s Wayne Shimell, but joining him will be the likes of Darren Banwell who has had some really good tussles with Shimell in the past, Ryan Towels and Luke Dewey where as in the over 45’s riders include Leigh Williams, Rob Lewis and Alan packer to name a few.

Whiteway Barton is an excellent viewing track with easy parking and will be signposted off the A380 Exeter to Newton Abbot road with the first race at 10-30am. (Postcode TQ12 3QF) Admission is £7 for Adults and £5 for Children 5-15.

There are still spaces available if required, just go on the ACU website to book in.
