Sherwood hosts penultimate round of British Youth and Under 21 Championships this weekend
Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th September will see the Judd KTM British Youth National Championship Powered by Parts Europe and the Steve Benton Transport British Under 21 Championship head to Sherwood, Mansfield for the penultimate round of the 2018 season.

The battles in each class in each series are heating up with just the two rounds to go, especially as most championships have no clear runaway winner. It looks likely that when riders will head to the season finale in Weston-super-Mare for the first time ever in October, the racing will go down to the wire, meaning Sherwood will play a pivotal role in each championship’s outcome.

Currently leading the Official British Championships are Hayden Statt, Ashton Boughen, Bailey Johnston, Alfie Jones, Drew Anderson, Aaron-Lee Hanson and Rossi Beard. Sherwood is a brand-new circuit for each series and is a great venue that has held numerous club and national events in previous years. Recently the circuit has undergone a huge revamp, and the hardpack track should be in great condition thanks to the recent inclement weather.

Ashton Boughen, Current British 65cc Championship leader
“I am really excited to be in the lead with 59 points, which takes a lot of pressure off of me - especially after my bad race at Duns where I ended up scoring last place in the points in the second race due to a stone getting caught in my chain and pushing the chain off. I have never raced Sherwood, but I have practiced there once and I like the track. Hopefully I can come away with a bigger points lead.”

Rossi Beard, Current British Under 21 Championship leader
“I am happy to be leading the Steve Benton Transport British Under 21 Championship going into the last couple of rounds. I struggled at Duns with a hand injury, but I’m hoping to extend the championship lead at Sherwood.”

Preston Williams, 3rdin British 125cc Championship
“I think Sherwood is an awesome track and I am looking forward to getting on the start line to try as hard as I can. I’ll give it everything I have got for the final two rounds of the year.”

Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities
“We are now starting the final two rounds for both the Official ACU British Youth and Under 21 Championship. All riders have provided some outstanding racing during the year and we have seen a lot of improvements throughout the field. I am pleased to be bringing the championship to Sherwood for the first time and it is great for this circuit to host the Official British Championship. I would like to wish all riders the best of luck for this weekend at Sherwood.”
