RHL Activities working with local school for the 2017 HydroGarden Weston Beach Race
RHL Activities is pleased to announce that it is working closely with Gillingstool Primary School, which is based close to the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race that takes place on 13-15 October 2017.

Gillingstool School is located in Bristol and originally opened in 1862, prior to moving into more modern premises in 2010. The school creates an inclusive and ambitious feel and ensures pupils have high standards of learning.

The relationship with the school began when a student wrote into the RHL office last year about the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race. He explained how interested he was in motorbikes and how he hopes to compete at the event one day. Following some correspondence, RHL Activities is pleased to confirm that this has led to a strong relationship with the school and that staff from RHL went to an assembly last week to talk about the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race organisation and the beach race itself.

In addition, in the week running up to the maddest, baddest and biggest off-road event in the country, a class from Gillingstool Primary School will be attending a special day on the Weston-Super-Mare seafront totally dedicated to them. Students will take part in a number of activities and events throughout the day during the build-up of the 35th running of the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race.

Tom Mullins, Deputy Headteacher of Gillingstool Primary School commented, “Each year my class takes part in a letter writing project. They can write to anyone they choose and then wait for the reply. Kai wanted to write to the organisers of the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race, because he has a keen interest in motorbikes and hopes to take part in the competition one day. You can imagine the excitement in class when Kai received his reply. However, the best was yet to come; Kai and all of his classmates were invited to visit the event. This was an extraordinarily generous reply. The whole class has been invited to the Hydrogarden Weston Beach Race site where they will receive VIP treatment, see the motorbikes, meet the riders, walk around the site and take part in some activities, as well as have the chance to take part in a competition to win a family day pass to the event.”

“The class are incredibly excited. I am amazed at the effort RHL Activities has gone to, to provide such an incredible experience for my class; this is real inspiration for learning back at school. There is more, RHL Activities visited our school to deliver a whole school assembly about the Hydrogarden Weston Beach Race. They displayed a motorcycle, shared information about the event, and answered questions from the children. I am very grateful to RHL Activities for all they have done. The children will certainly have a day to remember.”

Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities commented, “For RHL this is a fantastic relationship we have built with the school following Kai’s letter to us. RHL is keen to promote the sport to individuals outside of the sport and bring people into the sport for the future. Having the chance to work with the school by going in and speaking with the students and teachers plus the invitation for a class to come down to the Weston-Super-Mare seafront on the run up to the event is a fantastic achievement for us and I look forward to building on this relationship in the coming years.”
