It is with sadness that the North East Motorcycle Racing Club reports that one of the clubs founding members, Eddie Johnson died in hospital on Wednesday 20th January. He suffered a heart attack whilst out cycling with a friend the previous day. Eddie was an International rider during the 1960s, competing in the IOM TT and World Championship events during his racing career.
Past Chairman, Treasurer and supporter of the organisation, he was a colourful character who was very enthusiastic for the sport throughout his life. He is survived by son, Martin and two daughters, Faye and Samantha.
The funeral will take place at St Edwards Church - Coquet Avenue - Whitley Bay - Tyne and Wear at 10.00am on Thursday 4th February
