ACU National Finals at Santa Pod Raceway this weekend

This coming weekend sees the penultimate round of the championships, except for Top Fuel Bike which only has two rounds in their championship and they will race their final round at the event.

Top Fuel Bike has Steve Woollatt leading in the points ahead of Christian Jager who has not entered the event.  Former champion Rene Van Den Berg is ten points behind Jager.  Newcomer to the class Nick Milburn will be hoping to get his license runs completed at the event.

Funnybike

Another big field is expected for this round and points leader Gary Jones is hoping he can get a fuel pump sorted for the event.  His nearest challenger is Dave Peters who is 155 points adrift and after running a personal best 7.25 at the Open Sports Nationals it is going to be a close contest.  Dale Leeks and Eric Richard further two hundred plus points behind Peters, but if the top two have problems or eliminated in the earlier rounds then Leeks and Richards could close the gap.  Reigning Comp Bike Champion Lizz McCarthy has rented the ex Dave Bailey Funnybike off Richard Gipp and makes her debut in the class.

Pro Stock Bike

Len Paget heads the class and with reigning champion Mark Smith not entered it is down to newcomer Alex Hope to stop Paget claiming the title.  Hope ran 7.49 in testing recently at the European Finals.  Making his first appearance of the year will be Ray Debben.

Comp Bike

The last two events has seen Allan Davies lead being closed to the point of he is now tying with Phil Crossley coming into this event.  Crossley has found a tune up and is running in the 7.5sec bracket and ran a personal best of 7.532 at the Open Sports Nationals.  Kevin Osman is 240 points behind in third place and Tony Clark a further 100 points.  Paul Hambridge could surprise the meeting if he finds his seven-second combination when he ran in Super Street Bike.

Super Street Bike

Reigning Super Street Bike Champion Graham Balchin has a 70  point advantage over teammate and 2014 European FIM Cup winner Steve Venables.  They are 360 points ahead of Chris Reed who is followed by Dave Thomas.  Also entered are Garry Bowe and Pete Field.
