Connor Smith Memorial Meeting – June 14th and 15th

In October last year the whole of British quad racing was devastated to hear the sad news that Connor Smith had been tragically killed in Italy representing the UK at the Quadcross des Nations. In the following weeks it was plain to see exactly how popular and respected young Connor was with everyone in quad racing from all over Europe and even America. It was agreed very early on with Connors family that the NETT Quad Club would organize "The Connor Smith Memorial " at one of his favourite race tracks, Dean moor mx Near Whitehaven .

The event will be on the 14th/15th June and will also be a round of the Adult British Quad Championship, NETT Club Championship and also plan for the Top British Sidecar crews to attend eg Stuart Brown/Chamberlain and the Millard brothers who have already pledged their support for the sidecar class.

The club want to make this the biggest quad meeting of 2014 with some of the funds raised going to the Connor Smith Trust.  (Setup in memory of Connor by his family)  The Connor Smith trust will also be providing some support to this great event.

Italians to add World Cup weekend spice

Five leading Italian riders are set to compete in round three of the British Championship at Dean Moor (CA14 4RH) on the weekend of June 14-15 - the same weekend England meet Italy in their opening World Cup match!

The Italians have been invited to the Connor Smith Memorial Meeting at the popular Cumbrian track by the organising NETT club.

Close links have been built with the Italian quad racing fraternity since last year when young Connor lost his life at Cingoli in Italy representing GB in the Quadcross of European Nations.

The Dean Moor meeting is set to be the biggest quad race of the year. As well as the British Championship there will be a full programme of NETT championship classes, plus the UK's top sidecar crews will take part in an invitational race.

Prize money is on course to be the biggest prize fund ever offered at a UK quad meeting and the NETT club is urging riders from all clubs across the country to attend and help turn it into a weekend festival. To help there are plans for a beer marquee and music Saturday night!

Classes for all youth and adult classes are available. Details on how to enter and relevant contact numbers are available via the club's website, www.nettquad.co.uk. Entries close on June 9 or sooner if full.

Two weeks later (June 28-29) leading Scottish, English and Irish riders including - including Carl Bunce, Dean Colhoun and Murray Graham - will travel to Cingoli to take part in a Connor Smith Memorial race. Nine riders are confirmed so far and organisers say there are still around five more spaces left for riders who wish to take part.

Prize money, just for the UK entrants in the race, starts at £1000 for first, with £500 for second down to £50 for fifth. Transport has been arranged for bikes and gear, with collection points around the country. QRS quads will be collected at Irvine, then Barnard Castle (Nett) and Oxford (Nora).

Any other rider who wishes to compete should contact Karl Robinson on 07711 556470. A non-returnable £50 deposit will be required from any riders saying they wish ride
