Oset IOM @ Station Garage sponsored the first ever Eco only bike trial, which took place on Saturday1st March at Cornelly Mines in glorious sunshine.
With over 30 riders entering on the day, this meant each class was going to be hotly contested. Nick Peniata had a great ride in the C class, cleaning 3 of the 4 laps, only dropping a mark when his Dad tried to send him the wrong way! Second was Ella Doherty riding her first trial this year after taking a little time out to recover from a minor operation over Christmas. Last step on the podium was taken by Nathan Thompson who had a lap for lap battle with Charlie Swales, who finally finished 4
th.
Riding D+ route Mica Caley had a great ride and it will not be long before she is riding the C route, With Morgan Clucas also showing plenty of promise.
The D class was even more closely contended with the top 3 riders all achieving clean laps. The honours went to Bradley Calvert, who having cleaned the first 3 had a small lapse on the last lap, dropping a soft 2. This was good enough however to keep Bobby Moyer at bay, who having had a shaky start settled into the new bike well. Fourth came the ever improving Corey Peters and only other rider with a clean lap Alfie Swales in 5
th.
Rider of the day goes to the TJ Teare who cleaned all 4 laps on the tricky E route, Erin Sells didn’t let him have it all his own way though, cleaning 2 of the 4 laps to finish on 3. The final podium position went to Corbin Stewart with a score of 7, just piping Summer Peters, who after a poor start went on to clean the last 3 laps. 5
th place went to Darcy O’Connor in only his second trial.
A big thank you goes to all the marshals and the IOM Government for the use of the land. We also raised £46 on the day, to help with the travel costs for 2 of our Isle of Man ladies, who will be competing in Ladies and Girls British Championship this year.
The Eco bikes go indoors next, with a fun arena trial at Ballawestone, Ballabeg on Saturday 8
th March starting at 4pm.
