International Six Day Enduro, Olbia, Sardinia Day Six Report: GB Junior Team 3rd, GB Trophy Team 6th
Team GB have successfully made it through the 2013 International Six Days Enduro in Sardinia with a third successive podium finish – again for the Junior team, placing third. The Trophy team retained their sixth place, an improvement of two places on last year.

ACU GB ISDE Team Manager, Dusty Martin: “The final day is always so very different, after a week of getting up at 5.45am ready to be in paddock for the start at first light, this morning it was a lie-in and breakfast at 8am. The riders had an easy hour’s ride to the motocross track – the spectators were transferred by train!

“I told the guys there was no particular pressure today and to go out and enjoy themselves – and they did. With a sky-diving display and a lunch break it’s a very different kind of day and this does make it feel less pressured, more enjoyable. It had rained steadily overnight and so the track was perfectly watered and for the first day dust was not an issue! The boys rode their separate races, having some great rides. Danny was last to go – our only rider in the E3 class – and all the lads stayed to cheer him on.

“After an excellent day – slickly run – there was a confusion in that last race, and the riders completed an extra lap. The FIM jury are sitting right now to decide how they sort that, although for the teams competition it doesn’t change the outcome. I’m delighted with the results. This was a hard year but the Juniors have made the podium again – and put up a great fight, really pushing the French and Italian teams – and the Trophy team, too, improved on their last performance, sixth place in this company is a great result.

“Right now we’re in the paddock where the support crews, including Dave, Bod and the Army crew have been very busy cleaning and loading up. Again, it’s important to say just what a great job the volunteer supporters have done, we couldn’t have done this without them.”
