British Enduro Championship – the Manx attack!
The 2013 ACU British Enduro Championship returns to Wales for the Abbey Enduro on August 17-18 as the series heads into the telling second half of the season. Following the Knighton Enduro in July there’s a new challenge emerging for the overall title as recently crowned world youth enduro champion Jamie McCanney (Midwest Husaberg TE250) is set to race championship leader Tom Sagar (Colwyn Bay KTM 450EXC) from here to the end of the season. McCanney claimed a win at the Knighton, and very nearly claimed both days, but since then he’s scalped the British enduro paddock again at the latest round of the Husqvarna British Sprint Enduro Championship. The young Manxman is clearly on form and given five more days of competition could yet take the crown that had looked to be Sagar’s for the taking. The action is set to be equally tense in the supporting classes: in the Expert championship Scotsman Ryan McLean is defending a narrow lead over former clubman champion Rob Johnson, while in the Clubman class Lee Sealey holds a bigger lead, but pursuers Jack Staines and Andrew Bull both have wins to their credit and are sure to push hard over the weekend.

The Abbey Enduro is the fourth of this six-round series which travels the UK from Scotland to Wales, Yorkshire and the South East before the final round in Norfolk in November.

THE ABBEY ENDURO

THE Mid Wales Dirt Track Motorcycle Club reports:

“With the weather being so dry over the last few weeks preparation of the route has been full steam ahead, with the team reinstating the woods in both Abbeycwmhir and Red Lion forests.

“With the short and compact route a success last year the team are sticking with this for year's event, although a move from last year's starting field to the hard standing of Saints Well (practice track) has been implemented.

“The forestry test of Red Lion is set to challenge riders with the flowing tracks and intricate tree lines. Saints Well test will provide riders with a wide motocross track, with plenty of twists and turns. For all classes except the sportsman class the Abbey test is a short test with extreme elements, but don't worry there's a chicken run if you don't think you can make it!

“Riders wishing to ride just one day are welcome to ride either Saturday or Sunday, signing on and scrutineering can be held on either morning with prior notice.

“There is no road going only a crossing point..”
