TWO CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS AT DARLEY THIS WEEKEND

There will be a full weekend of race action at Darley Moor this weekend, firstly the Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Race Club will be holding Round 5 of their championship on Saturday 20th July, followed by the East Midlands Racing Association (EMRA) holding a round of their own championship on Sunday 21st. What a perfect excuse to take advantage of the superb weather we have been enjoying recently and with the Darley Moor Club allowing dogs, as long as they are kept on a lead, you can bring all the family along.

A brief look down the current standings in the Darley Moor Championship shows that there is sure to be some close racing involving a number of local racers and you can be sure that some of these will be looking to add EMRA silverware to their collections.

A brief look down the current Championship standings shows a whole host of local racers in with a very good chance of becoming champions at the end of the year;

Danny Smith is joint leader of the Open Solo Championship with Jim Hodson. Hodson holds an 8 point advantage over Smith in the Peak Cup class.

Matt Zschiesche holds just a slim advantage in the Lightweight class, Adam Hoare just 4 points adrift with Alex Woodhouse another 4 points back in third place. However, Woodhouse turns the tables on Zschiesche in the Pre98 Up to 500cc class, leading this with Zschiesche in third, 9 points behind and Fred Burbidge splitting them, just a single point behind Woodhouse.

Ricky Tarren is current leader of the GP125 class with Reg Richardson 9points behind in second place.

Sidecar driver Dean Banks is currently just a single point adrift of the top in the Formula 600 sidecar class.

Anthony Porter must be favourite for the Pre Injection 600 title, currently holding a 35point lead over his nearest rival.

Shane Pearson enjoys a 19point lead in the Pre98’s Up to 1300cc Championship over David Large, whilst Ian Morgan is a further 4points back in third place.

The, new for 2013, Classic classes look to be favouring riders from Matlock, with Gordon Thorpe enjoying a commanding 60 points in the Classic 500 although David Bradley, certainly cannot rest on any laurels, holding just a slender 9point advantage over the second placeman in the Classic 1000 class.

Dean Ephgrave is currently second in the Steel Framed 600 Championship just 4points behind the leader and with an 8point cushion over third.

Gary Dangerfield is inside the top 3 of two classes; currently 3rd in the Formula Darley class, needing to overhaul a 15 point margin to the head of the Championship. Although 2nd in the Mini Sound of Thunder Championship, he will need to make-up a 28 point deficit to reach the head of the table.

With the current weather conditions everybody is enjoying competitors will be praying for cooler temperatures to go racing in and spectators should be sure they take a long some form of protection from the sun, or the return to work on Monday could prove very uncomfortable!

Although on Saturday for this weekend Practice will still begin at 10.00am and the first race is anticipated to start at 11.30am, the cost of adult admission to Darley Moor for all meetings, except the end of season Stars at Darley meeting, is £11.00 per day, children under 16 are free, and Senior Citizens are £6.00.
