Kimber pair take victory at the Luscombe Suzuki Leeds British Sidecar Trials Championship
After two retirements in eight Luscombe Suzuki Leeds sponsored ACU British Sidecar trials championship events, Rochester son and father team Rupert and Chris Kimber dominated the Mansfield Maun club’s Doncaster Cup Trial held at Winster in north Derbyshire on Sunday.

They have no drops scores to consider, So good results in the Mel Harrison and Peak Trials should put the KImbers well up the standings. Another good result for Isle of Man teams Gary Flowers and Antony Smith and erstwhile series leaders Adrian and Aaron Smith keep them at the top of the standings but they are now under threat from Robin and Sam Luscombe the championship standings.

A second place in the Mansfield Maun event on Sunday yielded seventeen championship points for the Cullingworth father and son team. After some mathematics they are now eleven points ahead of Gary Flowers and Antony Smith, considering that the latter face a drop score.

Guildford school groundsman Peter Dale and Barry Pocock head the Inter class after a strong ride on Sunday but persistent Tony Crabtree and passenger Jamie Howe are in for the long haul lurking just a single Championship point behind Dale and Pocock. Phil Sparkes and new passenger Matt Sparkes missed Mansfield by a dab when Robbie Head and Aaron Jacobs surged home to victory. Phil’s second place puts him forty one points ahead of Paul Churchill and Kevin Parnell. They are one point ahead of Head and Jacobs. Alan and Rosie Maynard pulled out at half distant but the Newcomer title is a wrap, in their favour.

The championship ‘rests’ now for three months when the Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club stage the Mel Harrison Trophy Trial at Pateley Bridge on September 23.
