The Triumph Triple Challenge (TTC) heads to Brands Hatch this Easter weekend (6 – 9 April) for the opening rounds of the 2012 championship. The TTC, which is backed by Triumph Motorcycles and run by T3 Racing in conjunction with MotorSport Vision Racing, continues to build its reputation as the most competitive one-make series in the UK.
The TTC continues to be a key proving ground for motorcycle racing talent and this year’s championship will be no exception. Twenty three riders will line up at the Kent circuit to fight for victory in the first two races of the year. Racing this season are the likes of Irish Supersport Champion Christian Elkin, British 125GP Championship front runner Rob Guiver, MRO Superteens winner Max Symonds, Finnish GP125 Champion Valter Patronen and 2011 Triumph Young Guns winner Chrissy Rouse to mention but a few. However, local riders Philip Atkinson (Ashford), Jake Robertson (Ashford) and Piers Hutchins (London) will be looking to use their home track knowledge to outperform the new intake of talent.
The TTC will once again form an integral part of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship series. In fact, the TTC will be on track each day of the Easter weekend race meeting at Brands Hatch with Qualifying on Saturday, Race One on Sunday afternoon and Race Two, which also will be live on Eurosport, taking place on Bank Holiday Monday.
Tony Scott, director at T3 Racing and organiser of the TTC, said: “This year’s championship is set to be an exciting one. The 2012 grid is a real mix of talent, including both experienced riders and those new to British Championship level competition. Those new to the championship will be able to learn from the more experienced riders to quickly improve their own racecraft and circuit knowledge. Brands Hatch is a superb circuit to kick off the season and we always have a great race here.”
