When the music stops and the lights come up at Sheffield's Motorpoint Arena at the opening round of this year’s British Supercross Championship on Saturday October 22nd you will be surprised to see the number of top tier British riders who have changed seats. Unlike conventional musical chairs more seats are being added. If you are having trouble keeping up with so many changes here's your guide to who's on what team for the British Supercross Championships.
-Defending British Supercross champ Tom Church who won the SX1 and British Supercross Championships for CCM last season will now be riding a Red Bull HM Plant KTM.
-Jack Brunell who won the British Supercross Championship Lights title last season split between Maxxis Henderson LPE Kawasaki and Rabbit Racing No Fear Kawasaki will return with Rabbit Racing for this year’s series.
-Adam Chatfield who was runner up in the SX2 class riding for Maxxis Henderson LPE Kawasaki team has switched to Buff Racing Honda.
-Former British Supercross champion Gordon Crockard who rode for TAS Relentless Suzuki last season is back on a Norman Watt Kawasaki.
-Stephen Sword who took the win at Liverpool last year for CCM has now landed at TAS Relentless Suzuki.
-Martin Barr who won Belfast on a TAS Suzuki will be racing at Sheffield on a Boost Energy KTM before switching to Maxxis Henderson LPE Kawasaki for Belfast and the rest of the British Supercross Championship series.
Is your head spinning yet, take a breather there's still more.
-Former CCM team manager Dave Thorpe has now formed his own Buildbase Honda team with French star Nicolas Aubin leading the charge.
-South Africa’s Neville Bradshaw has switched from Motovision Suzuki/Honda last season to Evotech / Stevens Honda.
STAYING PUT (so far):
Steven Clarke and Lewis Gregory - Maxxis Apico Suzuki
Elliott Banks Browne - DB Racing Honda
Ashley Greedy - Maxxis Henderson LPE Kawasaki
One thing is for sure the music will start and stop a few more times before the gate drops at Sheffield in two weeks. For tickets to Sheffield call the Motorpoint Arena box office on 0114 256 5656.
