This weeks ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. Here is a selection of just a few events taking place.

Motocross

This weekend round six of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship rolls into the famous Foxhill Moto Parc venue near Swindon (24th July). The biggest and most prestigious Domestic Championship in the World will be rolling into Foxhill Moto Parc as the championship heats up to near boiling point. The MX2 class is currently being headed by Arnaud Tonus on his Bike It Cosworth Wild Wolf Yamaha ahead of his American team mate Zach Osborne. Third place is Elliott Banks-Browne in his Pulse Racing DB Honda. Last year’s event winner Jake Nicholls will be looking to repeat last year’s performance after returning from a broken ankle at the start of the season and a recent string of strong results in the World Championship. In the MX1 class Brad Anderson, the 2009 British Champion is currently holding a commanding lead in the championship on his PAR Honda following a superb showing at the previous round where he produced a hat-trick of wins to stun the crowd. Youngster Kristian Whatley on the Samsung Yamaha currently sits in second position in the Championship and will be looking to close the gap on Anderson, while Irish rider Martin Barr on the Proppa.com KTM currently sits in third place. The action will start at 9am with the MX2 practice and qualifying session, so for a full day of action packed racing make sure to get yourself down to Foxhill for the biggest motocross meeting of the summer at this famous racing venue. Foxhill is situated on the eastern side of Swindon and will be clearly marked from the A4117. Admission Price £20 for Adults and £5 for kids and a family ticket priced at £45. On the 27th July the Woodbridge and District MCC will be hosting the final round of the 2011 Gavin Hockey Motorcycles/ G & B Finch Sponsored Evening series at the Blaxhall Circuit. The first two meetings of the championship have seen plenty of great racing. At the opening round held at Wakes Colne Kristian Whatley took the win over local rider Syd Bales and Elliott Banks-Browne in third place. The second round of the championship saw Elliott Banks-Browne win at Wattisfield ahead of Syd Bales and Carl Nunn in third. With one round left of the championship there is sure to be plenty of action when practice starts at 5:30 and the first race at 6:00. Entrance prices are £5 for Adults.

Everything is in place for this year’s 65th running of the Patchquick Trophy meeting which is to take place at Phoenix Moto Parc (formerly Whiteway Barton) on Wednesday Night 27th July are all in hand and with a prize fund of over £4,000 entries are now starting to come in. Last year’s Trophy winner Brad Anderson will be making a return to Devon and will be hoping to have his name again engraved on this famous Trophy which is worth over £25,000. Other riders who will be hoping to do the same will be the likes of Stephen Sword, Alex Snow, Mel Pocock plus many Premier Championship riders in the shape of 2010 Premier Mx1 Champion and current 2011 Championship leader John May, Luke Hill, Tom Harvey, Wayne Shimell, Mark Popperwell, Sam Chapman, Ross Flashman, Luke Mellows plus many others who will be confirming after this weekend’s Maxxis British Championship. There is also Junior racing where there is some fine talent on display, especially in the shape of young 17 year old Bill Farleigh who will be on his home track along with fellow up and coming youngsters Tommy Alba and Jack Stevens plus many more. This will be the 65th running of the event and again will be sponsored by Phoenix Tools of Kingsteignton with St Blazey M/c Sponsoring the Junior Cup. The meeting will be starting at 5pm with the practice session followed by the first race at 6pm. On the evening the meeting will be limited to 40 Expert riders and 80 Junior riders. The Junior riders will receive two races during the course of the evening, while the Experts will have three races as they battle to get their name engraved onto the Patchquick Trophy. Enduro

This year’s Brechfa round of the ACU Metzeler British Enduro Championship has had a revamp, with many new changes from the traditional format of the past few seasons. The new start area and covered Parc Ferme will be situated in the market town of Llanybydder, using the hard standing concrete yards of Evans Bros livestock market. At the site there is ample parking for motor homes and caravans within the grounds, all conveniently located within 200 yards of the local shops, Supermarkets and take away restaurants. There are also camping facilities available adjacent to the paddock. In the Championship Class Greg Evans will be looking to continue his winning form after taking victory on both days of the Knighton Enduro. The likes of Tom Sagar, Daryl Bolter, Simon Wakely, Alex Rockwell, and Danny McCanney will be looking for good results. As usual, the championship class will start proceedings on Saturday morning.

The Annual MiniMix 2 Day Enduro will this year take place on the 23rd and 24th July 2011 with signing on taking place on Friday 22nd July from 6.30pm at the Tynwald Inn St Johns, in the beautiful Isle of Man. All classes are 2T/4T including Experts, Clubman, Sportsman & Veteran. New for this year is the 3 man team competition based on points awarded in the rider’s class. Trials
On the weekend of the 23rd and 24th July 2011 the Waltham Chase Trials MCC will be holding a Trials Camping Weekend at Dungeon Pit, Sturminster Marshall, Dorset. During the weekend there will be two different Trials event. On Saturday 23rd there will be a Non Experts Trial which is Incorporating Round 4 of the Waltham Chase “Youth & Wobblers” Series and will start at 1.00pm. On the Sunday 24th the club will be holding “The George Greenland Trophy” Trial with a 10.30pm start. Arrival for the weekend will be from 9.00am on Saturday23rd July and there will be a family barbecue on Saturday from 7.00 pm. The normal trial entry fees are to be paid when signing on and the cost is £20.00 per family pitch, which includes camping, toilet facilities and barbecue and single camper are £10. The ACU Trials and Enduro Department regret to announce that unfortunately Round 8 of the Luscombe Suzuki Leeds Sidecar Championship has been cancelled due to lack of entries. The event set to take place on the Saturday 23rd July hosted by the Lakes Motorcycle Trials Association LTD will not be replaced. This leaves just two remaining rounds of the championship to take place on the 25th September and 6th November.

Grasstrack

This weekend the Woodbridge & DMCC will be hosting the opening round of the 2011 Eastern Centre Grasstrack Championship at Hill Farm in Iken. The Suffolk based club will be running their first Grasstrack in nearly two years following a run of unfortunate luck with events being cancelled due to the bad weather. Saturday’s event will incorporate the Barry Shipp Memorial Trophy and will feature an action packed programme. Saturday’s action will include 250cc, 350cc, and 500cc solo along with 500cc and 1000cc sidecars. The event will also include Quads and Junior races, practice starts at 3:15pm and the first race will be at 4:15pm.

On Sunday the Invicta TRC club will be hosting the Kings of Speed grasstrack meeting at Collier Street in Kent on the 24th July. The event will feature some of the best Grasstrack racing to be seen in this country. Sunday’s event will see Solo’s and Sidecars all competing for glory when the first race starts at 1pm. The Invicta Club have also arrange for a Motocross Display Team to perform to keep the crowds entertained. For an exciting family day out get down to Collier Street in Kent for Sunday’s event.

Road Race

As the Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Race Championship enters its second half of the season on Sunday 24th July 2011, it appears that several classes have hot favourites to take the title, while others are far from over and will most definitely still be up for grabs as the final round approaches. Of course those classes that appear to be settled may only be showing the leaders run of good luck, whilst their challengers may have suffered their fair share of misfortune. As always Practice begins at 10.00 AM with the first race expected at 11.30 AM. Entrance admission Adults £11.00, Senior Citizens £6.00, kids under 16 free, parking & paddock transfer free, with Programmes £3.00. This weekend the Auto66 club will be holding the Cock o' The North Continental Road Races at Olivers Mount. This year’s event has attracted a huge entry including Ryan Farquhar, Ian Lougher, Adrian Archibald, Michael Pearson just to name a few, there will be classes for 125s, 250s, 400s, 600s, 650 Supertwins and Superbikes plus of course the popular Formula II sidecars. Practice commences at 09.00 on Saturday and 09.30 on Sunday with the 8 race programme. Both days will start at 13.00. Weekend passes are £35 or £15 saturday and £20 sunday, accompanied children 15 years and under and parking are free. The bikers village campsite will be open from mid afternoon Friday through to Sunday evening. Camping is available to tents, motorhomes and caravans at £10 per pitch per night, all occupants must be in possesion of a weekend pass.
