The fifth round of the championship hosted by ACU sees the championship return to the South after the opening four rounds of this year’s BYMX series had something of a Northern flavour with visits to Yorkshire, Scotland and Cumbria twice. The championship now moves south and sets up camp at one of the country’s most iconic circuits Canada Heights in Kent. With the Championship entering the final three rounds of the 2011 season, all riders will be looking to score as many points as possible towards their championship scores when the action starts at 9:30 on Saturday morning. The meeting is being hosted by the Twickenham & District MCC at Stammerham Farm, Rusper and if last year was anything to go by, it should be a day of exciting racing. In addition to the Clubman Championship it is also a round of the SEMX Championship and of course it is also the Frank Munday Memorial Cup meeting so lots to race for! With a full line up made from not just clubman teams it should be action all the way.As far as the Clubman Championship is concerned Neil and Michael Franks are still heading the table and have just returned from their first foray abroad, riding in the support race at the Belgium Sidecar GP with a 7th place overall. Dave Goddard and Scott Cooper are 36 points behind but unfortunately Scott is out injured after an incident at the last round of the British Sidecar Championship but hopefully Dave has found a stand in passenger for this meeting to keep their championship hopes alive. Road Race
Thundersport GB travels to Norfolk on the 15/16/17 July as the newly redeveloped Snetterton 300 circuit awaits the arrival of the Thundersport GB riders for the next round of the televised championships. Once a speed circuit, not known for it's technical attributes, the circuit layout has completely changed and whereas we were used to seeing GP1 times hovering around the 68 second mark, you're probably going to be looking at adding between 42 and 45 seconds to that time after the circuit extended its lap distance to the best part of three miles. With better viewing for spectators and a level playing field for riders that are yet to take to the circuit, it makes the trip to Norfolk all the more exciting and could well become the most memorable Thundersport GB meeting ever.
As the Hottrax Motorsport season enters the second half this would be a fine opportunity for some riders to start to improve their position in the current championships and there are shaping up for an exciting end of the season. With plenty of points on offer over the remaining four rounds there is a still lot to play for. Pembrey might seem like a long way to travel but the track has always given Hottrax Motorsport a fantastic weekend of race action, a circuit where a 600 could overhaul bigger bikes, where weather can play a big part in the proceedings and where all the riders at the sharp end will be looking to max out on points where possible.
This weekend the National Hill Climb Association will be holding the Gurston Down Speed Hill Climb. Sunday’s event will see around 30 riders competing in a number of different classes for overall honours. The event features five different solo classes and two different sidecar and three wheeler classes. With a circuit of 1160 yards in lenght and a rising of 175ft the riders will face the challenge of three left and three right hand bends before they reach the finish.
