What's on Weekly 11th and 12th June
This weeks ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. Here is a selection of just a few events taking place.

Motocross

This Sunday the Phoenix Tools Premier Motocross Championships makes its first visit in the series into Wiltshire to Cusses Gorse, Nr Salisbury for round 5. This venue has hosted many top events over the years but this is the first time for the Premier Championship. In the MX1 Championship John May leads the proceedings by 52 points over Welshman Andrew Gillett who goes into round 5 with a lead of just 5 points over third place man Maarten Cremers. Others lining up in the MX1 class include the likes of Luke Hill, Darren Shears, Greg Hanson and local star Ben Milward. In the MX2 class Jamie Skuse increased his Championship lead at the last round to 42 points over defending Champion Luke Mellows others include Wayne Shimell, Luke Norris, Nick Wadge and Harry Snow plus Wildcard James Dodd who’s back again after his performance at Little Silver. In the over 35’s Martyn Tucker was to dominate the last round and now leads the Championship by 23 points from Keith Hanson. In the Junior’s Bill Farleigh extend his lead to 59 points at the last round with a hat trick of wins over Michael Rowe. Cusses Gorse is an excellent viewing track with easy parking and will be signposted off the A303 at Countess Roundabout, Amesbury with the first race at 11am.

This weekend the Cheshire North West MX club will be hosting a schoolboy meeting at the Warmingham Lane Circuit. The Warmingham Lane Circuit is a hard park circuit set on a hillside and features a number of different jumps including drop offs and table tops. Sunday’s meeting includes all classes from 65cc to Adults along with Twinshocks, Evo and Veterans. The circuit can be found near to Middlewich using the Postcode CW10 0HL.

On Sunday 12th June the North East Motorcycle Club will be holding the sixth round of the Club Championship at the Wooley Grange in County Durham. Sunday’s meeting will feature all classes from the Auto to the Adults. There are still spaces available in all classes and anyone wishing to enter the event should contact Michelle on 07505 960 322.

Enduro

The second round of the ACU British Cross Country Championship (BXCC) will be taking place at Canada Heights on Sunday 12th June 2011. The event is set to take place over a seven mile lap using the British Motocross Championship track, plus the 17'5 acre undulating grass field and surrounding woodland and car park fields. The Pro/Expert class is currently being led by Jonny Walker over Ashley Wood with Ady Smith in third. The event will be starting at 10am with the Sportsman, Over 50’s and Ladies Class before the main action starts at 1pm with the Pro/Expert and Clubman class. The venue can be found at BR8 8DZ.

Trials

After a two month gap the British Trials Championships returns to action this coming weekend with the St David’s Trial in South Wales. The championship travels down to Wales for the Neath Club’s event held at Ammanford for the second year in succession. Last year’s trial was a bit different from many of the venues we had mud, cambers, tree roots and some nice big climbs mixed in with the expected rockery. It made for some variety and the club has been doing some work on new and improved hazards. With Richard Timperley and Guy Kendrew at the moment taking the top places at the opening three rounds in the Expert B. In the Expert A class after three rounds there have been three different winners with Ricky Wiggins, James Fry and Gary Macdonald all topping the podium. Jack Sheppard is going great guns on the world youth scene but will the 125 be well suited to this venue. In the Pro class James Dabill is the rider to beat and Michael Brown, Alexz Wigg and co must be determined to make it happen sooner rather than later. The event weekend is the 11th/12th of June and the venue is at Ysguthan Farm, Heol y Myndydd, Gararnswllt, Ammanford. SA18 2RY. Practice on the Saturday between 3-5pm with the trial starting Sunday at 10am

This weekend, 12th June the seventh round of the ACU Luscombe Suzuki Leeds Sidecar Trials Championship will take place at Miners Standard in Winster hosted by the Mansfield Manu Motorcycle Club. Following on from the opening six rounds of the championship round seven will take on a 23 mile course which will make up the Doncaster Cup. There is a clear battle for the lead in the Expert class, with only ten points being the difference between leaders Robin and Sam Luscombe over Rupert and Chris Kimber in second, third place is then held by Lee Granby and Les Ashby. In the Intermediate Class the current leaders are Tony Crabtree and Jamie Howe ahead of Daryl Dale and Harriet Shore in second with Peter Dale and Barry Pocock in third. The Clubman Championship is currently being headed by the pairing of David Tuck and Steve Chandler with Ali and Amelia Haigh in second place. Third place in the championship goes to Phil Sparkes and Roger Tuck. Sunday’s event will be starting at 11am from the Miners Standard in Winster.

The Waterside Junior Motorcycle Club based in the Southern Centre are now heading into a busy month of events, with four Trials events taking place in the next four weeks. The first of those events is on Thursday 16th June at Harrow Wood Farm starting at 6:30pm. The Trial is the fourth round of the clubs Summer series and is open to all ages and caters for Experts to Beginners in both the Adult and Youth.

Grass Track

On Sunday the newly formed Heart of England Motorcycle Club will be hosting a Grass Track event at Airfield Business Park in Market Harborough. The meeting will feature both 1000cc and 500cc sidecars, along with 500cc, 350cc and 250cc solo action. Also on the programme are Pre 75 and Youth classes. All the profits for the meeting will be going to a local charity ‘Adam’s Smile’ which was set up following the death of Adam Mugridge. The gates open at 11am with the first race starting at 12:30pm. Admission is £10 for Adults, £6 for Concessions and free for under 16’s.

On Sunday the Yorkshire Junior Grasstrack Club will be holding round 2 of their Club Championship at Dearne Dike Lane in Upper Cumberworth. The meeting will feature all Adult and Youth Solo grasstrack and MX class. Practice on the day is set to start at 11am with the first race starting at 11:30.

Road Racing

This weekend the MotoGP comes to Silverstone for the Sixth round of the 2011 MotoGP Championship. With a total of nine British riders competing in the three classes there is plenty for the home crowd to cheer about. The 125cc class features GP regulars Taylor Mackenzie, Harry Stafford, Danny Kent, Danny Webb and John McPhee as the Wildcard. The Moto2 class features Bradley Smith, Scott Redding and Kev Coghlan all looking for a good result, while in the Premier MotoGP class all eyes will be on Cal Crutchlow.

Following all of the excitement of the 2011 Isle of Man TT, the Southern 100 will be taking place at the 4.25 mile Billown Circuit on Saturday. The Southern 100 is a perfect way to bring the curtain down on the 2011 TT Festival. The meeting will again feature a number of top riders enjoying the laid back event after the busy TT. Practice and qualifying takes place on Saturday afternoon between 1pm and 4pm. Before the racing commences at 5pm with the combined 125cc and 400cc race, followed by the 250cc and 650cc SuperTwins race, then finally the 600cc Supersport race, each of the races are run over eight laps.
