With this weekend being the Easter Weekend, this weeks ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. With around 70 events taking place under the ACU banner, here is a selection of just a few.
Motocross
This weekend the Norfolk MXC club will be holding their first youth meeting of the season at the Sculthorpe track. Following the unfortunate cancellation of the clubs opening meeting of the season on 27th March, The Norfolk MXC have been working hard to improve the track ready for a bumper meeting over the Easter Weekend. During recent months the club have been working hard by reversing the direction of the track and creating a number of new jumps and genuinely making the track rider friendly for all.
While up at the Fat Cat Moto Parc venue, the Kensworth Schoolboy Motocross Club will be hosting a meeting. The Fat Cat venue, formally known as Armthorpe has seen a radical face lift over the winter and will be in superb condition come Sunday Morning when the action starts at 10am. With the event running across the whole of the Easter Weekend riders can arrive on the Friday afternoon and take advantage of the track being open for practice on the Saturday and Monday allowing riders the chance to get a lot of riding done over the course of the weekend. The meeting will be running classes from Auto all the way up to Adults and there are still a few spaces left for people looking to race.
Little Silver Moto Club will be hosting round three of the Phoenix Tools Premier Motocross Championship on Sunday at the Phoenix Tools Moto Parc. The meeting features Juniors and the Over 35’s championship. Also competing at the meeting will be the Expert MX1 and MX2 classes. In MX1 Luke Hill currently leads the championship by a single point over John May and Maarten Cremers in third place. The MX2 Expert class is currently led by Will Worden ahead of Jamie Skuse and Luke Mellows. Racing starts at 10am with the entrance price being £7 for an Adult.
Trials
This weekend in the Trial Department two rounds of the S3 Parts ACU National Trials Championship will be taking place. The first event will be taking place on Sunday and is being hosted by the Bewdley MCC, the meeting will be round five of the S3 Parts ACU National Trials Championship. The Victory Trial is round five and will be starting at the Cattle Market Car Park in Knighton, Powys in Mid Wales, LD7 1DR and riders will set off on the 25 mile course from 9:30am onwards.
On the Monday the South Liverpool Motor Club will be hosting the Lomax Cup Trial which will feature the sixth round of the S3 Parts ACU National Championship. The event will be starting at The Old Wharf Area, Glyn Ceiriog, Clwyd on the B4500 from Chirk. The Lomax Cup Trial will be starting at 10:30 with the first rider setting off on the course that consists of one lap. A course of approximately 40 mile has been set up for the riders to compete on.
Enduro
This weekend the Welsh Trail Riders Association will be hosting round three of the ACU Twinshock Enduro Championship at the Halfway Forest in Llandovery, the event will be signposted off the A40 Brecon to Llandovery Road. Riders will be competing over a 13 mile lap on Forestry land. The start time for the event will be 10am with the first rider setting off then. There will be one special test per lap (not timed on the first lap) and the special test will be available for inspection from 12:00 noon Saturday 23 April and up to 09:00 on the morning of the event. The route to the test will be marked with green arrows from the start area.
Grass Track
This weekend the British Master Qualifying event will be taking place at Bodmin in Mid Cornwall on Easter Sunday. The British Qualifier is being held by the Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club as part of a Grass Track Extravaganza. The extravaganza marks three days of great Grass Track racing. The Saturday event is a Youth event, with a club meeting being held on the Monday as well. The main event is the Master Qualifier on the Sunday which will see two former Master Champions, a reigning British Champion and ex British Sidecar Speedway all competing for a coveted place in the Masters itself at Lydden on August 14th. Racing for the Master’s Qualifier will be starting at 1pm.
Drag Race
The 2011 ACU Drag Bike Championship begins with the opening round of the championship taking place the 22nd to 25th April at the Easter Thunderball held at Santa Pod Raceway. The 2011 championship features five different classes-Top Fuel, Funny Bike, Pro Stock, Competition, and Super Street. For more information about the event and tickets visit www.santapod.co.uk.
Road Race
The second round of Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Race Club’s championship is due to take place on Easter Monday, 25th April 2011 and you can be sure there will be plenty of entertaining racing on the track, with a full day’s racing for just £11 per adult (Senior Citizens £6 and children under 16 years of age free, parking & paddock transfer free, with Programmes £3.00). With plenty of space for camping and caravanning over the weekend from Friday through to Tuesday morning for just £5.00 per night it is sure to make for an exciting weekend. Practice begins at 10.00 AM with the first race expected at 11.30 AM.
