This week’s ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. With nearly 60 events taking place over this weekend under the ACU banner, here is a selection of just a few.

Motocross

This weekend the opening round of the 2011 Maxxis British Sidecarcross Championship takes place at Wooley Grange in the North East. This will be the first time in many years that the Championship has visited the North East and the members of the North East MXC in conjunction with the Motocross Committee Chairman Brian Higgins and Motocross Secretary Sonia Goggin have been working very hard to ensure the meeting is a success. Over the winter months there have been a number of significant changes within the top teams, one major change has been that current champion Stuart Brown has lost the services of Luke Peters who retired as a passenger and is now teamed up with Josh Chamberlain. Runner up last year Scott Wilkinson has also changed his passenger and now has Craig Parmenter in the chair. The other major change is Paul Pelling who has moved away from Husqvarna power and has gone for the 707cc Jawa engine. The action starts with practice at 9am and admission for Adults is £10 and £5 for children over 5 years old. The track will be signposted from the A68 at Tow Law and the nearest postcode to the venue for Sat Nav users is DL15 9AN.
Meanwhile in the Eastern Centre the Sudbury Motor Cycle Cub will be hosting the Dave Roper Memorial Meeting on Sunday 10th April at Tye Farm, Great Cornard near Sudbury. This will be the second time the Dave Roper Memorial Meeting has been held with all the proceeds going to the Dave Roper Fund which has been created to help up and coming riders with funding to compete in British National Enduro Championships. For 2011 the fund will be supporting three riders, Kelvin Vant, Sam Toy and Craig Roper who will all be competing in the event along with a number of top Experts including 2010 Eastern Centre Championship Chris Bastick, Syd Bales, Jason Morland and Brad Tomlin. The meeting also includes a round NGR Championship. Actions starts at 10am with Practice and the first race at 11am, admission price is £5, with children under 12 years old free of charge.

Trials

This weekend the Westmorland Motorcycle Club will be holding the next round of the Luscombe Suzuki Leeds Youth Trials Championship. The event will be taking place on Saturday with the C and D classes competing and Sunday the A and B Classes will be out competing on the same course. The event is taking place at Tow Tops at High Newton in Cumbria LA11 6JH. The Saturday event will see the C & D riders complete three laps with ten sections per laps spread across a range of rock, woodland, hills and berks. Sunday will see the riders of the A & B groups completing four laps around the course. Action will commence at 10:30 am on both days with sections be easy to follow by foot.

Enduro

This weekend the North Riding Enduro Club will be holding a Hare & Hound Enduro at Nutwith Wood, Masham in Ripon, North Yorkshire. The event features a Youth and Under 16 Ladies class which will be held in the morning over duration of 1 ¼ hours. The course has been planned so that it is 5 miles in length, spread across an area of woodland terrain. Once the Youth event has been completed it will be over to the Adults for their event. The Adult races start from 11:15 onwards with the Sportsman class setting off first to complete their 2 ½ hour race. The rest of the Adult races will compete over three hours, such as the Over 40’s, Motocross Class, Clubman, Expert and Championship classes. With a small entry of Youth and Ladies riders and over 120 riders in Adult classes it is saw to be a good days racing.

Grass Track

The Maidstone Aces MCC will be hosting ‘The Bandit’ at the Boarded circuit, Collier Street nr Yalding in Kent. The meeting will consist of Solo upright machines up to 350cc and 500cc along with Left Hand Sidecars and Right Hand Sidecars. The meeting will be starting a 1pm on Sunday 10th April, with camping available on site from Friday evening with a beer tent and food onsite. Some on the riders entered for the meeting are Ben IIsley, Terry Messingham, Paul Simmons, Adam Ship, Mitch Godden, Adam Filmer, Dave Penford, Billy Penfold and Colin Blackburn.

Road Race

This weekend the Port Talbot Motorcycle Racing Club will be holding a double header event at Margam Park. The meeting will be the clubs first meeting of the season at the Margam Park Circuit which features a flat, twisty course, were riders will race the clock in a number of timed runs up the course. The event will feature a Hill Climb event on the Saturday at the Margam Park, while the event on the Sunday will take shape of a Sprint Event. With classes from Pocket bikes to Quads with everything in-between, there should be plenty to keep you entertain. There is any the chance to take part with day licences and day entries available on both Saturday and Sunday. Practice starts at 10am with everyone completing two runs before the timed runs start at 1pm.
