Hoghton Tower North West Championship Sprint
Marshals North West are holding the annual sprint at Hoghton Tower on the 22nd May 2011. This straight line 8th of a mile sprint which is uphill is held in the historic grounds of Houghton Tower where James the 1st knighted a loin of beef hence “Sir loin” and the house has been the home of the de Hoghton family since the Norman conquest.

The Hoghton Tower Sprint is the first round of the North West Sprint championship with the second round being held at the VMCC Aintree Sprint on the 17th July 2011. The Aintree Sprint is a 1/4 mile straight line sprint and held at the famous Aintree Racecourse in front of the grandstands on the old GP circuit where riders can sprint down the start / finish straight and follow in the tyre treads of Stirling Moss and Tony Brooks .
