British Championship Double Header At Culham
The weekend of Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th of September will see the best of British and European Quad racers travel to Oxfordshire and the fantastic Culham Motocross Park, NORA MX Quad Racing Club hosting a double-header of British Championship Adult and Youth Quad racing at the fast and furious circuit on the banks of the Thames.
With action kicking off at 9.15 am and with a planned eighteen-race programme for each day, there are no less than twelve British Championship titles yet to be decided in what is without doubt the most exciting series finale for many years, the action promising to be fast and furious and a spectacle of racing not to be missed.
After five rounds the GOLDSPEED ACU British Quad Championship it is Paul Winrow who heads the field in his search for title number eleven, but any thoughts that it will be plain sailing can be put aside with an on fire Paul Holmes just forty points behind and boosted by his recent Pont De Vaux win. After a difficult meeting in Scotland, Mark Watson has moved to third and will be aiming to close the twenty-one point deficit to Holmes, but hot on his heels and leading the assault for the local entry is Carl Bunce from Twyford, Bunce’s amazing consistency over the previous five rounds leaving a mere six point gap to reduce. Fellow Reading rider Jason Macbeth rounds out the top five just six points adrift of Bunce, but after a nasty accident during a recent practice session will disappointingly sit out the rest of the season. Having missed three rounds with a wrist injury, Stefan Murphy from Hampton Poyle makes a welcome return to the paddock and will no doubt be a contender on a circuit that he knows well, with Newbury’s John Pilbrow and Reading’s Chris King focusing on maintaining their momentum with the added support of the local spectators.
