Report from Round 3 of the 2008 Colin Appleyard British Solo Trials Championship

Tuesday May 27, 2008 at 12:00am

The conditions suited 33 year old British Champion Graham Jarvis, who defeated double winner 21 year old Scarborough rider Michael Brown. Preston electrician Shaun Morris took his third consecutive podium for JST Gas Gas and is posing a serious threat for the title after his 2007 near miss after suffering a freak eye damaging accident.

In the Expert title chase, Barnstaple Birkett Scorpa rider Joe Baker took victory and the 20 points that went with it as 17 year old Jack Challoner was beaten on the first two laps by Baker’s low scoring riding. Baker now heads Challoner in the standings.

16 year old Jonathan Richardson beat his British Youth Championship rivals in the Youth Class. Jonny Walker and Jack Sheppard could not match the Richmond youngster on the day. Youth Champion leader Ben Morphett retired from the trial.

The next round of the 2008 Colin Appleyard British Solo Trials Championship will take place on June 15th at Kelly Farm, Lustleigh, Bovey Tracy where the West of England Motor Club will stage Round 4 in the Championship Series.
