Round 9 World Superbike Championship at Brno Czech Republic

Monday July 23, 2007 at 12:00am

Toseland continues to hold his advantage at the head of the World Superbike Championship table despite the efforts of Max Biaggi, with whom he had a terrific battle at Brno, both securing a win and 2nd place apiece.  Leaving James with a 43-point cushion at the top of the table.

Congratulations must also go out to Jones for his first podium finish in the hotly contested World Supersport Championship, second place to the dominant Series leader Sofuoglu, almost doubling his points tally to date and taking him into the top 10 of the Championship table.

Jim said, “From Round 1 of this year’s Championship James has looked totally focussed and determined to regain the title he first won in 2004.  There have been many articles in the press about him transferring to MotoGP for 2008, which he certainly deserves after this season’s performances and consistency.

I have great pleasure in offering Craig the congratulations he so richly deserves for his first podium place in the World Supersport Championship.  Craig was one of the very first ‘pupils’ within the ACU Road Race Academy when it was launched in 2000 and his determination to succeed was very obvious to all the coaches then.”
