The Mackenzie Trophy Trial.
Graham Jarvis and Joe Baker stand on identical points after five rounds of the Championship. Both have suffered one defeat this year. Jarvis went down in the West of England Trial in June to Preston’s Shaun Morris. Baker was defeated in Wales by Bewdley teenager Ross Danby, at the St David’s Trial. For all competitors on Sunday it will be clean sheet start as none of the contenders have ridden Brimham Rocks in this trial and the sections are also brand new.
For Jarvis the testing time will the appearance of Junior Cup World Champion James Dabill, and his radical Future Montesa. Due to World and Italian commitments the Leeds rider has missed the first five events of the Colin Appleyard series. Dabill is currently ranked seventh in the World and attained a personal best in the World series two weeks ago.
Baker will also be tested, by Danby, Thorpe, Dan Hemingway, Sam Ludgate, and by World number three female trialler Becky Cook who can more than hold her own in tough events.
James Noble and Andrew Carter, with members of the organising Club, have created the new course from scratch. Practice will be on Sunday from 08.30 to 10.30. The contest will start at 11.00. and will consist of three laps of twelve sections. The total time allowance will be five and half hours. Full results will issued after the trial.
