Last year's home coming was highly anticipated and did not fail to live up to expectations with the event being regarded not only as one of the best trials the nation has ever hosted, but as one of the truly great motorcycling sporting occasions of the last decade.
Those that were present experienced an extremely special day, with Britain's very own sporting hero Dougie Lampkin causing the largest roar of the day as he came from behind to snatch a dramatic last section win. The compact course and new factory paddock created an unequalled atmosphere and one that continues to be talked about even several months after last year's event. The steep sandy climbs and awesome rock faces that hide under the towering oak trees that frame the back edge of the famous motocross circuit, provided some of the biggest and best sections of last year's FIM Trial World championship and were applauded by the riders and fans alike.
Whilst event organisers, L+M Events were delighted both with the public's response and the overall success of their initial attempt, they are already working hard to improve certain aspects so that that they can build on the foundations of last year, to deliver an even better weekend of sporting action this time around. In addition to the actual competition itself, there will also be a bigger trade village and an extended entertainment programme for Saturday, including a very exciting Mini Masters trial, full details of which will be released at a later date.
Martin Lampkin will once again head up the course design and build team, with work on the sections and paddock planned to begin as early as next month. Under the guidance of ACU / FIM clerk of the course Dave Willoughby, the goal will be to achieve a good mixture of technical and traditional hazards that will not only test the riders, but produce some spectacular action for the massive crowds that are expected to line the sections once again come late July.
L+M Events will again benefit from the kind and expert assistance provided by Bradford + District Motor Club as they take charge of the huge cast of observers, officials and technical staff, without whom the trial simply could not run.
