Team GB endured a difficult day at the 2026 FIM 6DAYS Enduro of Nations in Grândola, Portugal, with technical issues forcing Jamie McCanney, Nieve Holmes and Jack Keenan to retire. Despite the setbacks, the remaining riders continued to fight hard across the six special tests.
Nathan Watson continued his strong progress, finishing eighth scratch, with Brad Freeman close behind in 11th. Both riders are moving up the order each day, while Jed Etchells finished 27th. McCanney’s retirement was a major disappointment for the team, but the remaining riders remain focused on delivering strong individual results.
Nieve Holmes was forced to retire due to a technical issue, leaving Rosie Rowett and Lucy Barker to carry on for Team GB. Both finished strongly, with Rowett sixth and Barker ninth in the Women’s class, providing encouragement heading into Day Three.
Jack Keenan also suffered a technical issue that forced his retirement. Sam Hughes finished 24th and Callum Hughes 26th in the Junior class as both continued to battle through the challenging conditions.
Day Three brings a new set of special tests, with significantly more sand expected. These conditions should suit the British riders better, giving Watson, Freeman, Rowett and Barker particular reason for optimism as Team GB looks to finish the week strongly.
