The Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club are preparing for their penultimate race meeting of the season and entries still arriving for Rounds 11 and 12 on Sunday 20th September 2026, at the Darley Moor Sports Centre, near Ashbourne, DE6 2ET (or What3words: bounty.behalf.charm).
With a maximum haul of 90pts still available over these final two race meetings there is still all the ‘play’ for, but some championship leaders could stretch out their advantage enough to be crowned amongst the first champions of the season. However, with the recent change in weather conditions, back to normality, will this benefit others that are able to master changing conditions, quicker?
Darley Cup - Jonathan Trezins (Wisbech) currently holds a 54pt advantage over David Carson (Northwich), after winning all, but failing to finish just one of the races this year. Whilst Carson has failed to score points on three occasions but has finished in the top three in all other races. However, Carson currently enjoys a 21pt lead over Russell Dodds (Bedale) in the Super Twins Championship. Carson with seven victories, a 3rd place finish, but failing to record points on two occasions, against Dodds record of finishing in the top4 every time.
Ricky Tarren (Swadlincote) has the highest points tally of the season, 147pts, dropping just 3pts, after finishing 2nd in the opening race of the year, winning the rest. Benjamin Dale (Warrington) is his nearest challenger, 52pts adrift, but the one competitor who has prevented Tarren from a 100% season, but after taking victory in the opening race, followed it up with a 4th place finish, then zero points at the second meeting.
Trezins and Dale are leading contenders in the Golden Supersport class, Trezins leading by just 4pts, after scoring top3 points in all rounds against Dale’s eight victories, but failing to record any points in two rounds, a championship most likely to be decided at the final race of the season.
Richard Hughes (Wolverhampton) holds a 51pt advantage over Zac Leigh (Middlewich), but Leigh only started recording championship points from Round 5 onwards, winning three and runner-up on three occasions. Whilst Hughes has finished 1st or 2nd in all races except Round 4 when he finished 5th.
Anthony Thane (Stoke on Trent) has failed to record any points in just one race, but after winning seven races, plus a 2nd and 3rd place finish gives him a 45pt lead over Liam Clements (Stafford) in the Mini Twins & GP250 class. Clements, who has recorded one victory and been inside the top3 on five other occasions.
Matt Bell (Sheffield) has finished all races; 4th place being his lowest finish but taking the chequered flag on six times and finishing all other races in a podium position. Closest challenger, with a 40pts deficit, Mark Goodings (Doncaster) has finished in the top3 on six occasions, recording one victory, but failed to score any points in the opening round.
Bell, Goodings and Tarren are the leading contenders in the Ben Godfrey Trophy championship. Bell, with five victories, along with top3 finishes, but failing to record any points in the opening round, currently holds a 30pt advantage over Goodings, who has one victory, five other podium finishes, but also failing to record points in just one race. Tarren, has a 2nd place best finish and recorded points in all but one race, is 3rd in the championship, 60pts adrift of Bell.
Ant Porter (Chesterfield) is currently leading two championships, both with a 26pt advantage, but over different competitors. Winning four races and registering six Runner-up places in the Lightweight class has given him the lead over Steve Price (Stockport), who is yet to claim a victory this year, but has finished in the top4 on each occasion. Another Chesterfield competitor, Freddy Oakley, is currently 3rd in the championship, only scoring points on six occasions, but taking the victory each time. There is a similar situation in the Wilson Trophy class, Porter recording points in every race, 2nd place in all, but one, in which he finished 4th, leading the championship, this time over Oakley, who has won all six races he has entered.
Both Sidecar classes have the top two teams already entered; Alan Molyneux, with passenger for this coming weekend Daniel Rudland (Rufford/Barton upon Humber) holding a 36pt advantage over Keith Waddington/Kyia Illman (Barnsley/Crewe), after recording six victories, a lowest finish of 4th against the second-place pairing’s best finish of 2nd, seven 3rd place finishes with a lowest finish of 6th place in the Open classification. Mark and Amelia Berry (Bolton) lead the Formula 600 Sidecar class by 16pts, over Richard Butler/Derek Taylor (Leicester/Eccles) after recording six victories and two Runner-Up spots, from Round 3 onwards. The Butler/Taylor pairing recording seven podium finishes, two 4th places and their lowest finish, 8th.
Whilst the weather may not be looking as hot as previous Rounds, the action on track towards this end of the season looks to be as hot as ever, be sure not to miss it.
