Supermono GB Round 2

Supermono GB headed for South Wales to Pembrey for it’s second round of the season. The weather was looking onimous but with Pembrey’s own micro climate we only suffered one club race on the Saturday with wet conditions.

The ACU National Championship was looking to be another hotly contested race. Mike Edwards qualified for pole position with Ant Hart and Mark Evans rounding out the front row. With Edwards unable to take to the grid with a technical, left Hart and Evans a clear run to the first corner. Mark Evans gets the hole shot and leads for the first half of the lap, but Hart soon takes the lead and by the end of the first lap Hart, Evans & Andrew Widdowson are the top 3. All closely followed by Joe Woodward, James Dutton & Jack Long. By lap 2 Widdowson has moved into 2nd and Joe woodward into 3rd. Evans, Dutton & Long, neck and neck less than a second behind. Lap 3 sees Woodward make a move on Widdowson into 2nd and Hart & Woodward start stretching the gap to Widdowson. Lap 4 sees some good moves from Long to 3rd position and starts making headway into his DD Racing team mate Woodward. The top 3 now Hart, Woodward & Long. With Long slowly closing the gap to Woodward, Hart was slowly increasing his lead over Woodward. A red flag cut the race short unfortunatley Hart had a massive highside at Brooklands Hairpin which concluded the race result. Luckily Ant Hart got up and walked away from the crash which was a big sigh of relief.

ACU National Race result, 1st Joe Woodward, 2nd Jack Long & 3rd Andrew Widdowson.

The Club Championships saw 27 riders turnout and had its usual competitive racing throughout the field. The Evo Class saw Ant Hart take 3 out of the 4 podiums leaving 1 for Mike Edwards. The Clubman Class had 2 wins a piece for Martin Cockayne and Dean Widdowson.
