It is with great sadness we have learnt this week of the passing of one of the great characters of the off-road sport in Britain. Born in Yorkshire Pete was a lifelong motorcyclist, back in the late sixties and early seventies he produced the Dalesman Motorcycle in Otley in trials, scrambles and six day form, the Puch engine machines where highly popular and successful winning events up to National trials.
Following a move to the Midlands he encouraged all three sons (Derrick, Paul and Lee) in trials and very successfully in enduros whilst wheeling and dealing in various off road parts, clothes and accessories, his stall became a legend around bike events and he was in his element doing a deal amongst boxes of bits and pieces giving advice and help to anyone who asked.
He was extremely proud of his son’s successes World titles, British titles and representing Great Britain at the Six Days and more so with grandsons Jack and Harry achieving the same.
Even in his nineties and with mobility problems Pete still managed to make the long trip to Newcastle to watch the Super Enduro and talk to his many friends at the event.
We have lost a real star and our sympathy to wife Kath and all the Edmondson family at this sad time.
