Champions Set to Return to the Southern 100

The return of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races last year after three years produced four race records and saw no less than nine lap records including the absolute Solo lap record being bettered twice to currently stand at 116.941mph!

Not to be outdone, the Sidecar outright record was increased to 102.398mph in the championship race.

The 2023 ‘Friendly Races’ commences in three-weeks’ time on Monday 10th July with current Solo and Sidecar Champions returning to endeavour to retain their championships and polish the coveted trophies for another twelve months!

Solo Champion Davey Todd and Sidecar Champions Pete Founds and Jevan Walmsley, each have three former champions with their eyes on the silverware to contend with on their return to the Colas Billown Course.

A quality entry of 218 including an amazing thirty-five Newcomers, with an increase of interest in the Lightweight (250-700cc twins) Races has encouraged the race promoters, Southern 100 Racing to add a third race for this class, making a total of fifteen races over the two evenings and a full Championship Day, after practice and qualifying has been completed.

Road Closures are Monday 10th, Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th July from 6.00pm until 9.40pm and Championship Day, Thursday 13th July 9.30am to 12.45pm and 1.30pm to 4.45pm.

Monday evening is devoted to practising, which continues during the first part of Tuesday evening.

Racing begins with the first of two races on Tuesday commencing at 8.00pm. Wednesday sees a further four races, whilst Championship Day morning will have five races, followed by a lunch break then four races, which includes the prestigious Solo and Sidecar Championship Races.

The 2023 Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races concludes with the unique open air Prize Presentation in Castletown Square on the Thursday evening, commencing at 8.30pm, where you can come and show your appreciation to all the riders, who have entertained us during the week.
